In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Powergaming is when a player basically forces other character's actions, like saying how other characters respond to their actions or even saying they outright kill someone with an attack instead of saying they attempt to kill the targeted player. It can also apply to a player's own actions, if they for example try to do something which is unrealistic for their current character based on age, health or other factors, as this makes the experience less immersive and unrealistic.
Powergaming is really bad in roleplay, because good roleplay is done through respecting eachother and creating a believable story together not forcing it on your own by dictating what other characters are going to do and such,.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is when a player basically lets what they know out of character decide in character decisions if their character is unaware of the factors that decide the player's decision. This is just unfair cause if a player for example hears that another faction is planning to attack him cause he was told so out of character, only to prepare for that attack in game is just disregarding the rules of playing a role instead of yourself. Also searching for an item and having the first place searched be the place where the player knows the item is hidden due to out-of-game information.

((Share your character’s backstory! Please ensure it’s at least six sentences, written in third person, and references to the server lore, including a current realm in our map.))

If you’re stuck on what to add, consider the following:
- Your character’s family (parents, siblings, etc.)
- Where your character is from (include a real place on the map)
- What kind of environment was your character raised in
- Why your character left home

Jehan feels as if he is a small man in a very big world. Born and raised alongside many brothers and sisters in Vallagne, the capital of the Commonwealth of Petra, he has always been one of many in the crowd.  While Jehan may lack ambition, he does not lack passion, as he wants to learn all he can about the world he inhabits. In his mind are dreams of travelling the world and learning all its history, so that he can understand it.

Being a cynic who claims to fill little empathy when encountering the cruelties of the world, Jehan is not shocked by the cruelties of the world, they intrigue and even fascinate his morbid curiousity.

His journey started as he decided that he was finally sick of Vallagne, and he wanted to see the world.

Character Name: Jehan
Character Race: Heartlander
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 22
Physical Description: All in all, Jehan is a man with a plain appearance. He dresses in plain clothes and has an average build, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Roleplay Scenario:

The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”

((How does your character respond? Please ensure your response is at least six sentences long, and uses at least two actions.))

The eyes of the traveller dart around the cramped room. After a short while, they fall to rest on the old hag. He raises his voice, trying to emulate an official's style of speech. "I am a common man from Vallagne. As you have already guessed, I was the one who sent the letter." Jehan studies the crone, he notices a scar beneath her left eye, and wonders what it could come from. "Regarding your question of my ambitions-"

"-BAH!" The Old hag interrupted. "Stop that damn fanciful talk. Stick it up when you're back in Vallagne!" The crone spat at the dirty floor.
Taken slightly aback, Jehan continues. "I sup- I suppose I want to become a scholar. I want to know and learn all that I can. So many in Vallagne are such ignorant fools. This is the reason I sent the letter, because I want to know. I was told you were an eyewitness or knew an eyewitness of the bandit band that roamed this area?"
The hag's eyes dim, and water slightly as she recounts the past in her mind, dwelling on people long gone, roads not taken and things not said.
Finally, she raised her raspy voice.

"Aye, 'tis true. My father, he..." She stops herself. "What do you want to know?"

Jehan finds his quill and paper, clears his throat, and starts to write as the old woman tells.
