    Spoiler

    *`~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`*

Datura Sylric laid in her bed, her body had began to look more like a skeleton as the days passed. Her body had been failing her slowly, her skin turning as pale as a ghost, and the mali’fenn knew she did not have much longer. Varvhur slowly opened the door to her room, quietly speaking to her.

    ”How are you feeling mayilu?”

She looked up towards her darling fiance, Varvhur Feno Drakon. He went to sit beside her, going to hold her hand gingerly. He rarely left her side in her state, tending to her needs. She spoke up softly,

“Varvhie… Why do we not get married? Better now than never right?”

The mali’fenn smiled somberly, rubbing her thumb on his hand. Varvhur looked at her with shock, holding her hand tightly with both of his hands. He stayed silent, before nodding in agreement. Varvhur then pulled her hand onto his cheek, before standing up slowly. He then got up, gathering the preparations for what they needed during that night.

The two of them left that next morning, going to the Wayshrine of Irem to pray and give their sacrificial offering to Irem. Datura spoke with weak words, but they were accompanied by Varvhur’s strong, yet soft, words:

“Irem, ey’o prose ot Nae tah illere Nae’r leye maya edt mede ayilu tes. Tah illere ern fih ey’e lliran edt Nae’r mali. Epi nae evareh il’naer kisin. Se Nae’r anuh’wy ey’o iller ey’i tayna edt prose ot ey’o epi yallr kath ime ito Nae’r epa edt endo.”

With the small offering the duo went out into the snow, wearing the ceremonial furs they had long since gathered for this day, to hunt whatever animal they could with what time Datura had left.

Varvhur quickly ushered her into the woods, clutching his Parir’katas tight in one of his armored hands, his other hand wrapped around Datura’s arm as they walked. They walked for seemingly hours until finally finding a clearing in the woods.

“Shall we rest here mayilu?” Varvhur spoke calmly down towards Datura, smiling gently.

The smaller mali’fenn nodded, looking up at him with tired eyes. Varvhur quickly went to gathering branches of a tree, after sitting her down on a grouping of rocks. Varvhur then began to click his flint and steel, starting a simple campfire. He then quickly helped Datura up, ushering his mayilu to the warmth of the fire.

They sat by the small campfire, holding one another’s hands as the winds filled with the flurries of snow whipped around them.

“Varvhie..?” Datura gently whispered into the night.

“Yes mayilu? He responded in a soft, worried tone.

“Ahernan.. For everything you have done for me and for the Princedom. For loving me with all of your heart, for managing to return home after all those years of being gone.” Datura kissed his hand gently, “Ahernan.”

Varvhur just softly smiled, kissing her forehead in response. “Itone.”

As they sat there in their own world, a large stag emerged from the woods towards the clearing. Varvhur would begin to stand, grabbing his trusty Parir’katas. Giving one last kiss on her hand, he went off to do what needed to be done…

After what seemed to be hours passed, Varvhur returned with the stag to their campsite over his shoulder. Datura would sit up once again, her face reflecting an exhausted smile. Varvhur’s own face was beaming with pride.

“Varvhie- you did it again!” Datura chuckled out.

“I know! Look at the size of him!” The mali’fenn laughed in return, grinning from ear to ear. “Let us get to it then, ti?”

Datura nodded, and got up to start cutting out the heart of the noble creature with her sacrificial dagger necessary for the ritual. She then set the heart out in front of a small statuette of Wyrvun she had brought along, looking up at the night sky.

“Forgive me Wyrvun- it seems this is all I am able to do for you.. But I hope it is enough for Varvhur Feno Drakon and I’s souls to be bound.”

Varvhur gently rubbed her back, before going down on his knees with her. She begins to take the blood of the heart and place her thumb print on the forehead of herself and Varvhur.. meekly laughing. She would then dip her finger in its heart once more, to make a stripe of blood on his cheek. Varvhur laughed softly in return, putting his thumb in the heart of the stag. He slowly made the stripe of blood on her cheek, taking in every moment as he stared into her eyes.

Datura then crawled a bit on the ground to grab her pack she brought with her. Looking through its contents she pulled out a beautiful short steel dagger. On the bottom of its hilt was a light purple jewel- a familiar weapon.

“Varvhur.. I give you this dagger in the hopes that you may cherish it like I have. While there are two in this world- they were made by a loving friend I do not think you will ever have the chance to meet. Ka Klad, the Golem.”

Varvhur then turned around to grab his own pack, looking at her with saddened eyes. He knew this gift was fruitless- that it would not do as it meant; but he would give her the memory she desperately desired. He handed over a simple shield, engraved with snowflakes and decorated in paint of a pale lavender.

“Datura.. I wanted to make you a shield to protect you when I could not, to keep you safe when I am away..”

Datura looked at him with bright eyes, a wide smile on her pale face, and went to find the silver snow fox pin in her pouch.

“Varvhur- while I know I am likely not to be by your side for much longer; I promise to love you with all of my heart. To make you hot cocoa when you need it, and feed you the cake you oh so love. To heal you when I can on my last days on this plane..” Datura shakingly pinned his fur together, a bittersweet smile on her face.

Varvhur cleared his throat and rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand. “Datura- I promise for the time we have left I will protect you. I will give you warmth and all the love within my heart. That you may rest easy knowing I will be here for you. That you are my one and only- my everything.” He would look in his supplies, pulling out a silver bear pin and pinning her furs together.

Datura jokingly spoke, “I now pronounce us Husband and Wife.. you may now kiss this bride.”

And so Varvhur did, and the two began to cook up the meat of the stag for their celebratory dinner- accompanied with two glasses of Datura’s Hot Cocoa. After their meal they laid together, bundled up in the furs and blankets they brought along with them.

”I love you mayilu...” Datura gently whispered, before falling asleep.

”I love you too mayilu...” Varvhur sleepily responded.

When the morning came- Varvhur found Datura as cold and white as the snow around them. Her face though was turned into a soft smile, a genuine restful smile. Shaking her- he tried to wake her but to no avail, the mali’fenn was dead.

Heartbroken, he packed up their things and carried her lifeless body all the way home…

    *`~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`*

All that would be left of the pair were her belongings that were scattered across the Princedom of Fenn, along with an open letter to all who wished to read:

“To the Princedom of Fenn, I gave you all of my heart and spirit. I tried to bring us together when times were tough, be the shoulder for all who needed it, and I tried my best to help all who wanted to join amongst the might of the mali’fenn. I am sorry that my time amongst you all was so short- but it seems that my time is coming quicker than I would have hoped. I have left my collection of books to be donated to the library in hopes of adding to our further collection of knowledge.

    To my adopted mother,
Velatha Sylric, I leave you my last ever made Snow Fox plushie. I am sorry to leave you so soon- I love you and I thank you for how much you tried to support me in this time. I trust you know what to do with the vase.

    To
Taveric Sylric, I hope that you are okay in your bee endeavors! And with your love. You were like the Uncle I never knew- and I trusted you to keep myself and the Princedom safe.

    To my
Sister-In-Law Grand Princess Aroiia Drakon, I leave you my Silkie Chicken. Something tells me you would like her- and take care of her well. She is a dependable hen- that is for sure. If she ever gets fussy- just feed her extra seed and she should mellow out.

    To
Rithon Drakon, I leave you my beloved Fennic Dip Pen. I had carried that with me as a symbol of hope when I traveled across the lands. I hope you may use it ever more to write your lovely ballads. Maybe one about me someday hmm? I'm only kidding of course.

    To
Chomylla Atmorice, I know we have butted heads every once in a while- but you were one of the most passionate members amongst the Idhren’tirn and Ivae’fenn. I know you wanted a Snow Fox so badly, so I leave you my beloved Snowdrop, just make sure to feed her lots of sweet berries and she should adjust just fine.

    To
Faelyn Gildove; I am sorry we did not get to spend much time together- but I hope you enjoyed the time we did have. I know you tried your best to get me to rest- and that I was often stubborn. Learn from my mistakes, and feel free to look at the fishies in the Aquarium anytime. To you I leave you some of my most beloved treasures. The Diamond and Pearl Bracelet was from my great companion Ka Klad- as a gift from his first Impera. The Short Steel Dagger was also forged by that same Ka Klad- and is the second of a pair. Varvhur has the other. The last gift is my original Cake Cookbook. Maybe try to make a recipe or two please? To let my desserts live on?

With much love, I hope to see you all again.

    Datura Sylric

  8. As someone who has been reading and writing the Religion lore from multiple posts now- I am excited and hopeful for this to be approved. It gives a physical representation of lore that was approved previously as well as actual events that have happened on the server previously. Glad to see it being actually offered to LoTC officially instead of in OOC limbo.

This tree is a huge deal for us within the Princedom of Fenn- and to have it officially recognized as lore would be amazing

  9. Idhren’tirn’s Rituals and Sacrifices

    d0CAu5H.jpg

While everyday mali’fenn are able to pray and praise the different Facets and Wyrvun, the Idhren’tirn is in charge of making sure that the Contract between the Mali’fenn and Wyrvun is upkept. With this, it means that they are in charge of sacrifices to Wyrvun as well as different cultural rituals. Provided here are the basics in how these are preformed- but only true Idren’tirn know the prayers and practices needed to be preformed.

    Sacrifices

    woo9YZ0.jpg

Wyrvun focuses on the balance and neutrality between the forces of good and evil, and in turn mali’fenn are not sacrificing in a way to praise either innocence or death or pain or suffering.Instead they sacrifice as a reminder of who they are and where they come from. Additionally it is a reminder that through Wyrvun the mali’fenn have Order. Through the power of Wyrvun and the Facets, mali’fenn are able to have the minds and understanding that they do.

The Tahu’naeri will start a sacrifice by slicing the creature’s neck and letting the blood drip from the table and into a ceremonial bowl on the altar.

As the blood is draining, The Tahu’naeri will start dividing the body parts and praying to Wyrvun and the Six. Mali’fenn correlate each individual Facet to a certain ideology. Those ideas are what determines what part of the animal is given in sacrifice to each Facet.  After a grouping of body parts have been carved out from the animal, the Idhren’tirn member says the appropriate prayer to the Facet before throwing the part into the fire.

    Ignoshey, the Aengul of Knowledge

The head is sacrificed to Ignoshey, as it represents ideas of knowledge, truth, understanding, and order.

    Pados, The Aelor of Passion

The heart is sacrificed to Pados, as it represents ideas of passion and emotions.

    Namos, The Aengul of Law

The spine is sacrificed to Namos, as it represents where one comes from, where our bloodlines connect from one place to another, and how each individual connection represents another layer of history.

    Katas, The Aelor of Destruction

The legs and arms are sacrificed to Katas, as they give us the physical capabilities we have to walk, run, destroy, and fight.

    Irem, The Aengul of Serenity

The lungs and diaphragm are sacrificed to Irem, as it represents life, the soul, the breath you see when it is cold, balance and calm.

    Deishon, The Aelor of Discord

The stomach and intestines are sacrificed to Deishon, as they represent the feeling people have in their guts when they laugh, and because the intestines themselves are all jumbled up and chaotic.

After all the parts have been thrown in- the Idhren’tirn member says one final prayer to Wyrvun himself as they pour the blood from the bowl into the fire.

    Mali’fenn Weddings

    2luvTgF.jpg

Within the mali’fenn, marriage is one of the most significant possible events, as it creates an opportunity for bloodlines, families, and the nation as a whole to come together in celebration of life. It is not uncommon for surnames to remain unchanged among couples originating from different bloodlines - although often, one or the other will choose to adopt their spouse’s surname. Thus, the children of such a pairing can choose to be a part of whichever bloodline they please, or to drift between both.

Like any marriage, a marriage in the faith of Wyrvun begins with a proposal. It is commonplace for such events to be suggested ahead of time, so that both parties might be properly prepared. Included in this symbolic process is for both individuals to seek out the leader of their partner’s bloodline or family and ask their approval for such a marriage, though there is no requirement to say that such figures must approve.

After the actual proposal takes place, some couples opt to plunge into an icy lake together, and bathe. Lakes hold significance among those who worship Wyrvun, for it is believed that the boundary between Talath’fin and Aira’fin is to be found at the bottom of such a lake. Upon the completion of this trial, the couple is to head ashore, whereupon each partner is to drape a cloak of fur - preferably their own cloak, or from an animal they hunted - around the shoulders of the other to bring them warmth. They are not, however, to fasten it. Symbolically, this is seen as each laying claim to the other, offering their protection, and guaranteeing mutual support. Those that do not pursue the icy plunge together instead skip straight to the draping of cloaks at the proposal itself.

Before the actual marriage is to take place, a couple must pass another certain step. A significant offering is typically made to Wyrvun so that he might give his blessing unto a marriage, as marriage brings about the beginnings of new life, and so a life ought to be given to secure this. Thus, in the days before their marriage, the couple are to depart civilization together for a hunt. Families and well-wishers typically send them off amid much jubilation, and with naught but each other and the belongings necessary to survive in the wilderness, the couple engage in a hunt for big game. This process serves several purposes. First, a certain portion of the animal shall be offered to Wyrvun, in thanks for the bountiful gifts that he bestows upon Hesin’fin and in the hopes of securing a happy, healthy family. Second, the meat of the animal is to be served at the wedding feast as the main course. Third, the hunt itself shall test the couple’s partnership. They are to survive together, work together, and hunt together. If they pass such a test, succeed in capturing their prize, and maintain good relations in the process, it proves that they shall be capable of weathering whatever storm they encounter in their marriage. Big game, such as stags and bears, are the preferable targets - for they are more capable of adequately supplying a feast, and demonstrate a great deal of hunting prowess between the couple. While this hunt occurs, the bloodlines or families of each partner are to come together and make preparations for the wedding. Typically, they prepare the other food and drinks for the feast together, and work out the logistics among themselves. Once the couple to be married return from their hunt, they are welcomed with open arms, and their duties are at an end until the marriage ceremony itself.

The actual marriage ceremony is officiated by the Tahu’naeri of the Idhren’tirn, but if they cannot do so, an appointed Rewelier’uhier may do so instead. They take place in the temple where families, friends, and well-wishers are gathered to spectate. Typically, the bride wears a nice dress, while the groom wears furs. If either is in the Ivae’fenn, it may be customary for them to wear their full armor and uniform. With the Tahu’naeri at the shrine, the couple is to walk down the aisle side by side, holding their offering of the heart of their hunted animal. It is laid to rest before the Wayshrine, whereupon the Vigilant smears blood from the heart upon their thumb, pressing said thumb to each of the couple’s foreheads. Then, the partners are each to follow suit, smearing a single line of the blood upon both of their partner’s cheeks. This process is to ensure fertility, and culminate the trial of the hunt. The Tahu’naeri acts on behalf of Wyrvun, and the partners act on their own behalf, as this ceremony also symbolize the shared blood that the couple is cementing beneath Wyrvun’s guidance. Then, it is customary for both the bride and the groom to exchange weapons, with an explanation for their choice of tool. Whether a relic, a personal weapon being traded, or a new weapon, this gift is meant to hold some sort of special meaning to an individual’s partner. All manner of weapons can be traded, including bows, daggers, and shields. This act is highly symbolic, for it represents the protection that each partner will henceforth accord the other. Then, a custom set of vows are to be exchanged. It is during these vows that special pins are produced, and while an individual recites their vows, they are to finally use such a pin to fasten the cloak of their partner, symbolizing the finalization of the act. Thereafter, the attending Vigilant may pronounce the couple married, they may kiss, and all attendees are thus ushered off to the feast. Food and drink alike fuel the revelry of a happily married couple and their bound bloodlines or families.

While marriage is seen as the crossing of two souls, marriages can be ended for a number of reasons. The Tahu’naeri may approve of annulment in cases of infidelity, abandonment, and banishment; although such occurrences tend to be rare, and marriage is seen as a binding that lasts not only for life - but for the afterlife, as a husband and wife may achieve eternal slumber in Aira’fin side by side, in each other's arms.

    Birth and Naming Ceremony

    UxIDssk.jpg

The Mali’Fenn, due to their elven curse, tend to have fewer children. This means when a female gives birth, it becomes a grand affair.

One week after the birth, the new-born along with its parents and family will attend the temple of Wyrvun, to receive a blessing, name the child, and sometimes a sacrifice to Irem may be performed.

The child, usually dressed in a blue and white gown, will be brought forth in front of all witnesses. Offerings given by the child's family are presented to the child. Usually, the parents giving the child their first weapon.

The Tahu’naeri will then confirm the name of the child, while preparing a fur blanket nearby, usually white wolf fur skinned from an animal caught by the father near the birth of the child.

Taking the child from its parents, the Tahu’naeri would dunk the new-born in the blessed ice waters to test their strength and bless them. After being submerged for a few moments they are pulled from the waters and wrapped within the furs.

The ceremony is usually followed by a grand feast.

    Mali’fenn Funerals

    wVSqePJ.jpg

When a mali’fenn dies, their bodies are prepared by cremating it with Tippen’s Root. Burning it rids the root of its healing properties, in death the ashes will lead the souls to Aira'fin and grant them eternal slumber.

All those who knew the mali’fenn may come to the ceremony, but instead of wearing black they wear clothes of pure white. At the funeral itself, the Tahu’naeri spread their ashes ceremonially onto the roots of the Yig’drazil. This is to ensure that not only do their bodies go to Aira’fin, but their bodies further nourish the tree well after their time has come on the mortal realm. As the ashes are spread, a simple, yet familiar prayer is spoken.

What happens after the ceremony is up to the family, but there normally is a period of grief that lasts till the end of the day- in which no one takes off their funeral garments.

Thank you to Josey and the others- without them I would not have nearly as much data to work off of! Without her help, I do not think this would have been as amazing!

  10. Wyrvun’s Six: The Facets

    Diut88u.jpg

In the Idhre’tirn, they do not only worship Wyrvun but also his Six. The Six are commonly depicted as ‘the Facets’ of the Idhre’tirn, and are what divides the Idhre’tirn into the six sects. While the Tahu’naeri must be responsible for worship of Wyrvun, and therefore all of the Six, each Rewelier’uhier tends to one of the Six. Their robes, jobs, expression of worship, and prayers coincide with the Facet they worship; however it is important to note those who may identify with a certain aspect but not share the same skills can still do so with their unique skill set.

    Ignoshey, the Aengul of Knowledge

Ignoshey is known for its understanding of all things. It has no opinion of either right or wrong. It understands the functions, and mechanisms of the world and how they operate. This causes Ignoshey to have a bit of a problem when it comes to judging creatures and ideas. It can not make calls on whether or not something should be done. Ignoshey only knows the answers to most questions, and can create solutions to most puzzles. Morality is unknown to Ignoshey.

Worship and sacrifices that are made towards the Aengul of Knowledge happen when Mali’fenn are searching for answers or documenting their different histories without bias.

Rewelier’uhiers that follow this Facet tend to take up jobs in library management, documenting events and bringing the records to the library, or teaching Mali’fenn basic education. They were also encouraged to develop skills in cartography and architecture.

    Pados, The Aelor of Passion

Pados is known for being the overall ‘emotion’ for every single mali’fenn. Pados encompasses anything having to do with the emotional aspects of the Mali’fenn. Pados tends to have the understanding of powerful emotions like: Love, Hope, and Anger. This can cause Pados to have rash and undesirable decisions. The emotions have no control over them, but they are there and they are incredibly strong.

Worship and sacrifices that are made towards the Aelor of Passion occur when an individual is seeking some sort of guidance with their emotions. For example, couples who want their life to be full of passion and love.

Rewelier’uhiers that follow this Facet tend to focus on writing scripts for plays, getting entertainers for events, or writing parables and poetry of Wyrvun for all to sing and celebrate. They are also encouraged in taking up hobbies in playing instruments or dancing.

Rewelier’uhier’s Robes for those who follow Pados:

    Namos, The Aengul of Law

Namos is known for being all about laws: creating the laws, following the laws, punishing those who disobey the laws. This Facet an overall judge of everything. Being lawful means of course following the different laws, but this also brings into question violations of the law for the betterment of Fenn and the Mali’fenn within it. Are these violations of law justified? That is something that Namos just might not be able to agree with. Many of the Idhren’tirn and Ivae’fenn follow these laws. In fact, Fenn, as a whole, is very lawful. Thanks to the other Facets, such as Katas, we are able to know when they are needed to shift and change.

Worship and sacrifices are made to the Aengul of Law happen when Mali’fenn are looking to make a hard decision before a court session or before a meeting with the Grand Council.

Rewelier’uhiers that follow Namos tend to take up jobs where they are able to punish criminals, writing or re-organizing laws, keeping tabs on the status of businesses within Fenn. Additionally they tend to keep tabs on the Idhren’tirn’s taxes, donations, and their inter politics.

    Katas, The Aelor of Destruction

Katas is about destruction to everything. Destruction of laws, people, animals, families, armies, enemies. Anything that it deems unworthy of itself and Wyrvun. This Facet has no order to it. Katas allows a lot of change within a society and its understanding of things and asks the question, why do we keep making these decisions? Just because it’s tradition? Problem with thinking like this is that without any structure, one is just left with rubble. Nothing would work, nothing would get done when everything keeps getting changed or destroyed.

Worship and sacrifices are made to the Aelor of Destruction occur for two main reasons. The first reason is the more literal meaning of Katas. Ivae’fenn may call upon Katas before they make an attack on someone, asking this Facet for the strength to uplift and destroy all within its wake. The second reason is for the more ‘cultural’ meaning of Katas, such as certain government officials within Fenn might make a sacrifice to this Aelor for wisdom and strength on how to change current policies within the nation.

Rewelier’uhiers that follow Katas tend to take up training with the Ivae’fenn to ensure their bodies are physically and mentally fit enough to protect the Idhre’tirn and the nation of Fenn. Additionally they encouraged in taking up the hobbies of hunting or martial arts.

    Irem, The Aengul of Serenity

Irem as a Facet represents the idea of being calm like the snow itself. When the sky is clear, and the snow is beautiful on top of the mountain. The calm of the winds. Irem focuses on the family, the bonds you have with your friends, your fellow military members. However, Irem is lacking in an understanding that not all things are peaceful. That not everything can be solved with a good meal and a hug. Irem loves the world and that’s its downfall.

Worship and sacrifices are made to the Aengul of Serenity for a rather large variety of reasons, due to how much the bonds between mali’fenn affect daily life. Most Mali’fenn understand the peace and harmony being with loved ones gives them, and when they are around a dinner table or at a gathering of joy they usually call upon Irem to protect those feelings. Many chefs also may call upon Irem to add the finishing touch to their dishes. Sometimes, Festival hosts will make a sacrifice to Irem before an event to bless their event with a familial warmth. Additionally, at the announcement of a new child of Fenn, a sacrifice might be made to Irem in an effort to promote a long and happy life for the child.

Reweil’uhiers that follow Irem tend to be in charge of organizing dances and festivities, cooking for feasts, or keeping up the parks and flowers. They are also encouraged to take up hobbies like cooking, painting, and gardening.

Reweil’uhier’s robes for those that follow Irem:

    Deishon, The Aelor of Discord

Deishon is all about causing havoc and tricks. This Facet is about manipulating around with people. Deishon loves to disrupt the peace, to make things happen for the sake of happening. This is usually done with intentions neither good nor bad, just fun. Most jesters and jokers within Fenn can relate to this aspect. The problem with this Aelor is that it doesn’t know when it’s not the time for that sort of thing. Deishon thinks that causing mayhem and watching people get angry is the best thing ever. This aspect has definitely started more wars than it should have through simple ‘joke’ assassinations.

Worship and sacrifices are made to the Aelor of Destruction most often when mali’fenn are looking for a good time. Whether it is for someone's bachelor party or there is a juggling event going on, they want to laugh and see fools be fools.

Reweil’uhiers that follow Deishon tend to delight in displaying Sleight of hand tricks or teaching espionage work. They additionally focus on teaching the Idhren’tirn how to trick and fool both enemies and friends. They are also encouraged to take up the hobbies of lock picking and card tricks.

  11. Have you ever had a negative experience with the monks?

Yupper-do I sure did. I watched a Monk bring a Snow Elf to HELENA before Fenn even though players were in Fenn. Though I heard that that got taken care of it was still alarming As someone who is helping run a nation that is really reliant on the new Snow Elves that come in I feel that a monk should check the person’s application really quick to ensure they are being guided to the right place. If they say that they are from such and such nation they should be brought there and even be able to ring the rally bell if necessary. There is more than likely someone who is willing to come on and help the new player rply and oocly if we are told about it. The lagpocalypse hit nations hard and trying to recover from it can be difficult for more race built nations, and you cannot expect one or two people to idle for 12-14 hours a day doing almost nothing waiting for the new players to come back if there is a notification system.

We didn’t even get an incoming-new player ping for someone into they were already in our Nation with the Monk guide that brought them.

As a New Player, were you helped by a monk?

Yes- and it was a wonderful experience since they made sure I got to the nation I needed to get to and introduced me to a few people who could help. You specifically Muffins.

Did the monk guidance give you a better understanding of how the server works?\

Yes it did, because they taught me everything about emotes, emote colors, chat channels, the whole works. Granted- this was almost a year ago now (I came onto the server the last week of June last year). They were kind to myself and were even willing to rp with me a little and made sure I was fully settled in and talking to other players before leaving me for my RP journey. Though I never saw that Monk again- I am still thankful for them.

Do you think that monk guidance is beneficial to players who are new to the server?

Yes, specifically for those who need a specific destination they need to be brought to. Once again, as a race-based nation and a player who had chosen my character for that nation they should be brought to the specific place as needed to prevent people from swindling them and bringing them to the wrong place. Bandits are also a pretty big issue as well since new players know so little as it is it can be overwhelming.

As a new player, were you left feeling more confident after being helped by a monk?

    Yes.

Do you feel that the monks are necessary for assisting new players on the server?

Yes. I do. Of course certain races like Elves and Humans are free to explore and chose their new destinies- but if a person wants a specific nation they should be helped by a non-biased member to get them to that nation. And to teach them the rather complex nature of the server itself- though I do agree with the point of few that if we had a cleaner UI to the help system it would be so so much better.

  13. The Idhren’tirn and the Wyrvunic Contract

    ILhZfuR.png

    The Wyrvunic Contract

The basis of our worship is on the Wyrvunic Contact. In saving Mali’Fenn from our insanity, our lives are indebted to Wyrvun. Upon passing through the World Altar, the first Snow Elves were created, but such a rebirth came at a price. That price was their sanity. For years, the Snow Elves wandered aimlessly, crippled by their insanity. A passing aengul, however, took pity upon them. Wyrvun, Aengul of the Deep Cold, sought a people to populate his mortal domain, Hesin’fin, for the land was harsh, and its occupants few. Thus, Wyrvun struck a bargain with the Mali’fenn, known as the Wyrvunic Contract. In return for their worship, their settlement in Hesin’fin, and their stewardry of the lands, Wyrvun restored their sanity, and promised them an afterlife of eternal slumber in Ara’fin. It is thus that the Mali’fenn came to worship Wyrvun, and it is from this contract that beliefs of religious conformity are derived, for it is feared that if enough Mali’fenn cease their worship of Wyrvun, and forsake their stewardry, the aengul will punish them all for breaking the contract - by depriving them of their sanity once more.

    Wyrvun’s Gifts

When the first of the Mali’Fenn came to settle in the tundra, the harsh environment did not seem to welcome them, and as such the Mali’Fenn did not feel that this new environment was truly their home. For many years the Grand Prince Aelthos I, the first of the ‘Fenn, made attempts to bring life to the hostile lands of winter. Year after year he would bring new plants and animals, only for them to wither and die, succumbing to the cold.

Crown Prince Aelthir I could see how much his father’s failures upset him. Not knowing what he could do to help, he began to pray. On the third night of The Deep Cold as Aelthir lay down to sleep, Wyrvun visited him and filled his dreams with wondrous visions. Aelthir saw a land filled with life and vigor, his father on a throne carved into a magnificent tree. Wyrvun approached the throne, welcoming Aelthos and all Mali’Fenn to Talath’Fin.

When Aelthir awoke, he couldn’t help but feel affected by the grandiose imagery of his dream. As he sat up, planning to inform his father of the dream, he felt something in his hand and looked down. It was a large seed, the color of snow with blue-ice streaks running down its side. He had never seen anything like it, and he rushed to tell his father, clutching the seed close to his chest.

By the time Aelthir arrived by his father’s bedside, it was too late. Aelthos lay cold and lifeless, and Aelthir wept, although deep in his heart he knew what had to be done. The days to the funeral passed, seeming dreary and void as Aelthir prepared for both his father’s death, and his own coronation.

The day of the funeral came, and all of the Princedom came together to grieve. As Aelthos was buried, Aelthir placed the strange seed on Aelthos’ chest, over his heart.

Three days later, Aelthir was coronated. As the crown was placed on his head, a small sapling emerged from Aelthos’ grave, growing faster than just nature could account for. In the years following as Aelthir continued his new reign of the Princedom, the tree continued to grow, and with it came other trees and flowers, turning the once barren tundra into an icy paradise, and the Mali’Fenn finally felt at home in the strange new land.

Every time Fenn has needed to move from place to place since Wyrvun originally blessed Aelthir I with the first seed, the tree has dropped another seed for the currently reigning Tundrak to take and plant in the next location, and so wherever the Mali’Fenn may go, the new place is transformed into a haven for ‘Fenn.

    Idhren’tirn

The fate of the Mali'fenn is bound to Wyrvun, who is worshiped as the god who saved and created their people. Alongside Wyrvun are six individuals referred to as "his Six", highly respected aenguls and aelors. The priesthood is separated into seven sects, six of which are dedicated to one of Wyrvun's Six, while the seventh is dedicated to Wyvrun itself. In addition to these deities, the term Fen'ikur refers to those Mali'fenn who have achieved a state of reverence, considered paragons or saints.

Those that follow Idhren’tirn are dedicated to the life and ways of Wyrvun, to protect his lands and his people from outside influences, including the worship of other deities, the corruption and corrosion of the land, and beings or forces showing malevolent tendencies. The protection of Wyvrun’s territories is of the utmost importance and must come before one’s own safety. Worshipping Wyrvun is a requirement for all Mali’fenn, and those that do not worship Wyrvun shall suffer from mental degradation, often losing what is left of their sanity.

Those that follow Wyrvun are not inherently good, nor evil, and hold no emotions toward those of non-Idhren’tirn worship. They do not fall to the kindness and lies of the so-called good religions, nor do they fall to the power-seeking and control of so-called bad religions. Nor do they terminate them, so that these religions may continue their fight with one another. The Idhren’tirn’s people must remain true isolationists, neither seeking out nor allowing others to find them for any reason, lest they wish to alter the isolationist path that they are set on.

Garnering attention toward Wyrvun’s realms in any affair is generally frowned upon, lest these other religions come to spread their influence or to tear apart the realms in a physical sense. One must remain neutral to all affairs of outside nations and religions, and not find themselves swept up in the chaos between them. If a non-Mali’fenn takes up residence in Wyrvun’s territories, steps should be taken to encourage them to take to the Idhren’tirn worship and lifestyle, including all practices of offerings and upholding beliefs, but should almost never be seen with an official temple position unless extreme dedication is displayed.

    Worship

Worship of Wyrvun is expressed in everyday life, however any member of the Idhren’tirn will tend to gravitate into one of the Six ways of worshipping. This corresponds to the Six Facets that make up Wyvrun itself. The Facets, a brief description, and an example of worship are as follows:

    Ignoshey (The Aengul of Knowledge)

The Aengul of Knowledge is known for its understanding of all things. It has no opinion of either right or wrong. It has understanding of the functions and mechanisms of the world and how they operate. Those who follow this Facet tend to fill the roles of teachers and knowledge archival within the library.

    Pados (The Aelor of Passion)

The Aelor of Passion is known for being the overall ‘emotion’ for every individual: Anything having to do with the emotional aspects of the Mali’fenn. This encompasses the understanding of Love, Hope, Anger, and other strong emotions. Those who follow this Facet will take on things to express those emotions and Wyvrun. They are skilled in writing plays, poetry, or parables; or possibly in singing or dancing.

    Namos (The Aengul of Law)

The Aengul of Law is known for being all about laws: creating the laws, following the laws, being the laws, obeying the laws, punishing those who disobey the laws. This aspect is like the overall judge of everything. Those who follow Namos would be found in positions punishing criminals or keeping track of the inner politics of the Idhren’tirn: taxes, donations, and issues with possible rulebreakers.

    Katas (The Aelor of Destruction)

The Aelor of Destruction is about destruction to everything. Destruction of laws, people, animals, families, armies, enemies. Anything that it deems unworthy of itself and Wyrvun. Katas has no order to it. This aspect allows a lot of change within a society and its understanding of things and asks the question, why do we keep making these decisions? Just because it’s tradition? Those who follow Katas constantly keep their body and mind ready to defend the people of Fenn, even going so far as to join and help the Ivae’fenn to do so.

    Irem (The Aengul of Serenity)

The Aengul of Serenity, is the one who represents the idea of being calm like the snow itself. When the sky is clear, and the snow is beautiful on top of the mountain. The calm of the winds. Their focus is the idea of the family, the warmth of a fire. The bonds you have with your Bloodline and your friends in the military. Those who follow Irem are the ones who will put together festivities and dances and cook for feasts in celebration of Wyvrun.

    Deishon (The Aelor of Discord)

The Aelor of Discord is all about causing havoc and tricks. You could say this one is about manipulating around with people. Deishon loves to disrupt the peace, to make things happen for the sake of happening. This is usually done with intentions neither good nor bad, just fun. Those who follow Deishon may display sleight of hand tricks or teach espionage within the Idhre’tirn, or may even teach others how to fool both enemies and friends.

More information on the Wyvrun's Six can be found here.

Any time a prayer is an order, it will entail both a prayer and offering left within the temple. There are different materials that can be sacrificed, each one coming with their own connotation and usage within worship. Their uses are as followed:

    Frost Vine

This is to be presented in times of war, famine, and hardship. Frost Vine flourishes in the cold, when other plants are dead or wilted, and so it presents perseverance within the Mali’Fenn and shows that even in these hard times, as the plant survives so shall the ‘Fenn

    Ashes of Tippen’s Root

This is to be offered upon the death of a Mali’Fenn. Tippen’s root, when alive, has healing properties. While burning it rids the root of these properties in life, in death the ashes will lead the souls to aira'fin and grant them eternal slumber.

    Water Mixed with Blood

This is to be offered in times of change, such as beginning work within a guild. Using one’s own blood is ideal, although other blood also seems satisfactory to Wyrvun, simply slightly less efficient. Giving your own blood is a sign of commitment and what you are going to give to the new opportunity.

    Leadership

    Tahu’naeri

Tahu’naeri, also known as the Arch Vigilant is the overall leader - therefore there can only be one. The only way to become the Arch Vigilant is by being chosen by Wyrvun - as they say - or the Grand Prince himself. The duties of this position are to host festivals and lead rituals, along with making sure the Rewelier’uhier spreads the faith to the other Mali’Fenn. They are the ones to ensure that the guidance of the Lentir’naerir are also proper by the Rewelier’uhier, checking in from time to time in classes and such. The Arch Vigilant is the only one capable of stating if one is worthy or not.

If the Arch Vigilant dies and is unable to promote an individual themselves, then prayers and sacrifices will be held in Wyrvun’s name, asking him who he wishes to become the next Arch Vigilant.

    Rewelier’uhier

Rewelier’uhier are the ones in the temple who have enough knowledge to now teach the new Acolytes and guide them on their religious path. Their job is to spread the faith to uneducated Mali’Fenn, helping them find which of the “Six” they may follow. There shall be no coercion either in helping a Lentir’naerir discover which of the “Six” they identify with.

Depending on which of the “Six” the Reweiler’uhier determines what daily tasks they may complete. It is encouraged, though not required, for them to also take on a hobby or that reflects their devotion to a specific Facet. This is to help bring themselves closer to understanding the mindset of a Facet, and to reflect outwardly what it means to follow that Facet. Additionally, their robe’s colour would reflect which Facet they are devoted to.

They are also able to run smaller rituals in place of the Tahu’naeri if they are absent.

    Lentir’naerir

When someone wishes to become an Acolyte of Wyrvun, they come to the Temple and seek guidance from the Idhren’tirn or the Arch Vigilant. One of the Rewelier’uhier, or the Arch Vigilant, then commemorates them into the temple and their new life starts.

The new Lentir’naerir are provided white robes, books, scrolls, quills, and ink pots, to help in their studies. An assigned tutor starts by giving them each basic assignment such as first visiting each shrine and praying to it, understanding the significance of sacrifices. How to hold a wedding. How to hold a funeral. Lessons on the history of Wyrvun in a classroom setting, and the different Facets, ideals and understandings of what it means to keep the Mali’fenn on the path of Wyrvun. These are imperative basics that all Idhren’tirn need to learn if they are to lead the Mali’fenn properly.

During their training, a Lentir’naerir is given simple duties they must uphold to build discipline and responsibility. These include yard chores, community service, fundraisers, and event volunteers. Sometimes volunteering in the Tavern or Helping the Clinic a little bit. Most Lentir’naerir are also tasked with helping the Reweiler’uhier clean and upkeep the Temple. This includes replacing candles, washing the floors, windows, walls, and seats. Replacing the sheets of different dorms. They are also tasked with cleaning up any leftover mess from a sacrifice.

The Writing down of information, thoughts, ideas, prayers, and understandings of what it means to follow the path of the Idhren’tirn are important for a new Lentir’naerir to learn. Most Lentir’naerir write things already written, to increase their knowledge of history, community, and understanding of each Facet of Wyrvun. Through their lessons, understandings, and discussions of Wyrvun, they start to gain an understanding of both themselves, and Wyrvun. Eventually, once a Lentir’naerir has shown they have grown, they are awarded with one Beautifully intricate Snowflake shaped Talisman. Once they gain 3, they are then allowed to partake in their Trial of Wind to become a Rewelier’uhier, which they can request to take within a few months’ time of them obtaining their last Talisman.

    The Trial of Wind

The Trial of Wind takes place during the transition from Lentier’naerir to Rewelier’uhier. It is the way to prove one’s faith to Wyrvun. It first requires a Lentir’naerir to give over their 3 earned talismans to one of the Rewelier’uhier, or the Tahu’naeri. The Lentir’naerir are given one day to prepare their body. They may eat, drink, and bring a few warm clothes, as well as a tinderbox. When they are ready, a Lentir’naerir is then guided to one of the wayshrines of the Six, and they should say a prayer and leave an offering (preferably their own blood mixed with water). Then that Lentir’naerir is guided out into the wilds, where each applicant will be sent out as the sun sets. The Lentir’naerir is then supposed to fast for two days (ingame) and explore the wilds and listen to the winds as they seek out the guidance from Wyvrun and one of his Six. Then a Facet will come to them and speak with them, after which they will give them a small branch from Yig’drazil, the Ice tree of Wyvrun and the realm of the Aengul. Once they have acquired the branch, they may go back to the Temple and present the branch. Once this has been done, an event for the completion of their trial is to be held.

When they have passed their trial, they will hold their first sacrificial ceremony in honour of one of the Facets, in celebration of their passing of a trial, and their new life as an Official member of the Idhren’tirn. They must write and approve of a personal prayer to be said during the sacrifice. Additionally, they will receive their Freeze Brand on the back of their neck- a ritual that must be performed by the Arch Vigilant.

A pristine white envelope has been delivered to the many mailboxes across The Princedom of Fenn, The Under-Realm of Urguan, and The Princedom of Aegrothond. Each has been sealed with a blue wax seal in the design of Wyvrun.

“After the Under-Realm opened its doors to the people of the Princedom of Fenn and the Princedom of Aegrothond, the people of Fenn have decided to return this gesture in kind by opening our long-frozen gate to our two close friends.”

The Princedom of Fenn, its Grand Prince and his council, welcome all who receive this letter to a festival in order to celebrate the Princedom’s renewal. There will be a sparring tournament for all attending and a ritual of change for the mali’fenn. Food and drink will be provided by the many people of Fenn and the Silver Snowflake.”

“This feast will celebrate the relationship between the three nations, the rising of Akkar Tundrak and in turn the rebirth of the one true mali’fenn nation.”

Signed by, Grand Prince of the Princedom of Fenn, The Tahu'naeri, The Grand Chancellor, The Grand Steward, and The Grand Advisor

  16. Datura stood at her counter, tapping her Fennic Pen against a counter as she tapped her foot rather quickly.. chewing her lip as she wrote.. Her note read as follows:

    ”Dear Aesilnoth...

We have not been close in the slightest. You have insulted me numerous of times for me not keeping my tongue due to only being a ‘lowly bar wench’. But today I will not be silenced. I am no longer that meek lowly barkeep you once knew. I understood your circumstances for leaving Fenn. I myself did not like that mad Grand Prince. I thought it was overboard for them to smash your limbs, and I was genuinely afraid to return home to Tahu’Lareh. But yet when I heard Akkar took up the throne, I returned home. The world outside of Wyvrun’s blessing was too harsh for myself, and I had no other home besides there. You did not return although Akkar dropped all previous restrictions on those Aelthos had banned. You stayed in Aegrothond. Which this is fine. You seemed closer with them than any people of Fenn that remained. And Aegrothond is a wonderful place indeed.

But you cannot claim what Grand Prince Akkar has or has not done for his people. He has lead mass reconstruction efforts to serve the people better. The New Grand Council has been making strives to revive our religion, re-organize our people, and serve those who have been wronged in the past. Whether or not you claim Tundrak blood has no concern to me, but your blatant slander and mischievous actions cause me great grief. You say you protect all mali’fenn,  yet I have not heard a single peep from you until Akkar disowned all Tundraks who fled Fenn in its time of need. You care not for our people or Wyvrun, but rather your own self gain. You had all possibilities to return home, to ask of our well-being. Instead you call us ghosts and snow.

Your own daughter was willing to come, to visit, to check up on us every now and again. But you can not?

You have attacked your own people within hospitals, caused countless fights, and been extremely reckless and unkind in the past. Once again you deceive others to fit the narrative you want, and I am now realizing you are unbelievably aggressive. Fenn does not need this in a time of its healing. Fenn does not need more unrest within its people.

You may be asking yourself, Datura, how have you helped your own people? I came back. I stepped up. I finally stood up for myself and asked to be on the Grand Council. To help where I can. To help those on the Grand Council with whatever tasks they needed to be completed. And when I am not doing that I stay in my tavern. I talk to those who may need help or are worried or just want a bit of distraction. I introduce our culture to wanderers who come and visit the great land of Fenn.

Not all service has to be through bloodshed and violence as you so hold dear to your heart. We are a militaristic people, but in the end we are all just people. Soldiers or not, we can still love, laugh, and learn.

    Datura Tathvir”

  17. Datura is shaking her head, a deep frown on her lips.. “We finally have a ruler who takes care of people that this man calls ghosts and snow.. I am glad to hear this from someone I have yet seen to approach us once. He is a foolish man who knows not what he speaks. Maybe the madness from not protecting Wyvrun’s land finally got to him.”

Datura would return to cleaning glasses in her tavern..
