Kaiben

Kaiben is a half elf, half human Adunian of low birth who’s mother and father owned an inn in Atlas . Despite his half elf lineage, living his entire life in Atlas alongside humans, Kaiben identifies more with human culture and their way of life than that of the elves. Kaiben is an only child and has always longed for adventure but was made to work in his parent’s inn, cleaning the rooms and changing the barrels of Ale. He is fit and can defend himself if he has to, and has had to on many occasion when revellers in his parent’s inn would get rowdy and start fights. He had always been close with his father’s brother. His uncle was a large man who had seen a lot of violence in his life and had done his fair share of fighting. When Kaiben wasn’t working at the inn his uncle would train him in sword play and archery, as well as tell him stories of the adventures he had been on in the past. These stories always filled Kaiben with wonder and the desire to explore and see the world. One evening while Kaiben was taking a night off from work and was out camping in the nearby woods with his friends, a particularly violent brawl broke out in his parent’s inn. His father and some of the other inn employees managed to break it up but one of the men involved in the fighting swore that he would come back and see who gets the last laugh. Early the next morning the Inn was attacked by a band of 15 armed men. Both his parents were killed in their beds that morning. After a long mourning period Kaiben fell into a deep depression, and he began to feel unfulfilled in his role running and managing his newly inherited inn. Eventually, without hesitation he left the Inn in the hands of his uncle and decided that with no obligations to his parents anymore that he would set out and see the world as he felt as though he had nothing of meaning left at home. He decided to seek adventure in the far away land of Arcas.
