Irithiel is a pure Snow elf, an only child born in a small farming colony. His father, a guard in the citadel turned farmer after an accident left him too weak to continue, had moved with his mother just a year before he was born. Irithiel had few friends during childhood and due to the isolated nature of his surroundings drew within himself. Certainly a product of both nature and nurture, Irithiel worked on the farm for much of his childhood and early adulhood, but deeply desired to expand his horizons and took inspiration from his father’s stories of the guard and the grand structure of the citadel – as well as being eager to please Wyrvun. No stranger to hard work and little sleep, he was unfazed by the prospect of gruelling military training. The day after his sixty eighth birthday, Irithiel said his goodbyes to his family and made the long trek to the citadel. Initially wowed by the magnificent construction and eager to make a fresh start, reality set in and Irithiel struggled to adapt, out of his depth in the new environment. He took work wherever he could, as security for the wealthy of the city, or even plying his trade as a blacksmith’s apprentice, albeit unsuccessfully. He has failed so far in his ultimate goal, to serve in the esteemed guard of the city like his father. At the present day Irithiel is torn between heading back to his parents – ashamed but ultimately safe, or giving it one last go in achieving his ambitions of military success.
