  1. Within the deep reaches of the South, a gambeson-clad figure held the missive within its' grasp.

A strap went loose, a helmet falling onto the hardened dirt, revealing a face; a gaunt, ancient 'ker.

A nod was given, seemingly to no one, and a piece of blank parchment was withdrawn from a bag fastened to a horse's saddle. The 'ker began writing.

    Spoiler

    Reynard,

It seems a lot has changed since my last trek North; for my latest visit at the sacred cathedral revealed that the entire Holy City had still laid in ruins, pillaged and defiled by the masses of Canonists, Templars and Dragon-folk.

Before our ruination I fought tooth and nail to restore our Faith to its old glory. I stood guard day and night over our gates, awaiting the Anathema hordes. I prayed. I delivered sermons. I taught and schooled many, not just in our Faith, but in the art of war aswell, so they may carry the torch when my mind finally gives way to the endless centuries that it bears. Creator Almighty, I used my own, old hands to lay the bricks that were meant to separate us from the hordes, I built houses for our faithful, and I made the long trek South and back for supplies whenever there was need, when I could've commisioned the Xi'tharii to do it for me.

Alas, before my time came, my faith had been shattered.

I saw with my very own eyes as the Aengul-slaves broke down our walls. I fought as they stole our relics. I watched as my mentor and our leader, Lord Melandrach ran, tail between his legs.

We agree on one thing, Reynard. Blind faith leads nowhere. It is coin that governs this world, and it is our dedication as mortals towards gaining it that deserves true reverence. I will not be taking the road North to fight you, for there is little coin to be gained among the desolate, frozen peaks, and I agree that I had been Herald only in title for far too long. You are free to keep anything I may have left in Lumbridge for yourself, along with my old duties.

    Signed,

    Malag, the Reborn.

             Kallig_

    Creator's RP Name:

             Lord Kallig

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

The Automata, sometimes called Animii, are mechanical life forms borne out of clockwork and artificial, alchemical organs. The physical form of an Automaton is limited only by gravity and the creator's imagination, however only humanoid, Descendant-sized creations are playable, the others serve only as pets or servants.

Where a descendants veins are filled with blood, the Animii equivalent is called Lifeblood - a synthetic fluid of alchemical origin that acts as fuel for the mechanical modules that grant the creation intelligence, eyesight, et cetera. In its original form it is a greenish colored light oil, however the lifeblood can be dyed for aesthetic purposes. The main downside of Lifeblood is that it cannot clot on it's own, meaning if a leak is created, the wound will not heal and the machine will "bleed out" from even a minor wound, if left untreated. Automata also obviously do not heal, and any damage, minor or major, remains as the machine's burden forever if not replaced or manually fixed. If the gear heart is destroyed, the machine's memory is functionally wiped.

An automaton is compromised most importantly of a Gear Heart, which, like a human heart, acts as a pump that distributes the Lifeblood to the automaton's modules and limbs. Other than the Gear Heart, automata are compromised of a variety of modules, each serving the purpose of giving the machine one of the senses. They are as follows:

Intelligence Vessel: Functionally the brain, an intelligence vessel gives the machine the ability of coherent, intelligent thought. Like human brains, intelligence vessels have wrinkles on their surface - the more wrinkles the more intelligent the machine, maxing out at descendant level. An automaton without an intelligence vessel has its intellect capped at Olog level, often suffering from short-term memory loss. They may also be overwhelmed by the stimuli provided by other modules.

Visual Module: This module serves as the Automatons' eyes. An automata may possess more than two eyes, however if they are installed facing different directions, the automata would suffer from poor hand-eye coordination.

Voice Module: Self explanatory. This module gives an automaton a voice, the ability to speak.

    Audio Module: The automaton's ears.

Obedience Vessel: An optional module that forces the machine to be obedient towards its creator, or any other person whose blood is injected into the machine's Lifeblood.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

Hadros stands at two meters tall, his frame is of a sleek, aggressive build, made of steel colored copper. His objective, first and foremost, is to be a companion and bodyguard to Lord Kallig and his associates.

  3. Ifan had found himself staring absent mindedly towards some unknown horizon, eyes unblinking, thoughts racing from the past to the future, then back to the past. Along this current of erratic thoughts floated Castiel, an old friend, a mentor. It reminded him of an empty room, its doors left wide open in a hurry, a cold breeze running through the halls. "Has it happened again?" Muttered he in a brief moment of recollection, of sentience. Such clarity faded into oblivion then, the prince lost within his thoughts, standing still like a gargoyle once more.

    -------------------------------------------

    We are born by the Dark;

    Made Men by the Dark;

    Undone by the Dark;

All shall fear  the Old Dark.

     -------------------------------------------

The ceremonial hilt of a bastard sword shattered long ago rests in your grasp. Within the bored out haft, a Corrupted Lightstone, humming a deep red and emitting faint whispers, is embedded and a rune of once Xannic origin, now perverted, is etched on top.

Upon activation, the Lightstone releases a howl of wrathful malice, followed by a burst of Ebrietean Mists from its end and crossguards, gradually condensing and coalescing into a bastard sword blade and quillons, all glowing the same color as that cursed stone. Once the mists have fully formed, ethereal cries of anguish, rage, and pain passively sound out from them, those agonized shrieks following each swing and strike. As the blade is formed of Ectoplasmic Mists, it would be able to come into contact with those from the realm of spirits, harming ghosts as if they were struck with ferrum.

Should those not conjoined to a geist attempt to wield this weapon, a great lethargy will begin to course through their body over the course of [10] emotes, surmounting in total paralysis and exhaustion.

Should one blessed with conjoinment seek to wield this blade, provided they were [T3] or above, they would find that as combat prolongs, they would gradually become filled with a cold, seething rage, all tact and finesse giving way to pure, frenzied anger. [Follows red-lines of Ember’s Wrath. [2] emotes to activate, lasts until dispelled or lost.]

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

A twisted, abomination of a relic, Ember’s Wrath exudes a myriad effects.

    Corruption’s Coloration
    bBz8Hx6ZrKQijexWQkb0iRDl8YMDNrFAvlzAGP1tCqNcWxJOGIVyM3yhpzkiRiOvecQc8y6UwsZmSKL6PqwbXn2vK4bGi7BAfH2WesyqiNo0q9vBk4igmraw7_zWfu0xKt35F-MSBaivdkNndlm6r44

Now corrupted, this lightstone would no longer possess the warm, calming hue of Xannic Emerald. Instead, this crystal, coated in menhir rock and ectoplasmically hindered by a Barrowlord and Three [T4] amputated Mystics, would have taken on a deep red coloration, granted by the combined auras of the casters’ ectoplasm.

The holy, radiating warmth common to Xannic mists has given way to a cold, unpleasant aura, those now ectoplasmic mists glowing the same ethereal red of the stone.

The blade and crossguard of this weapon would hum the same hue of crimson of that now bastardized crystal.

    The Screaming Saber

    https://youtu.be/-xQbO8dTWXk?t=33

When dormant, the saber will constantly exude a choir of barely audible whispers. These may range between feminine, masculine and even child-like mutterings. These whispers will never manifest as any known language.

However, once the blade is activated, the constant mutters will twist and warp into excruciating shrieks and screams.

    Wielder’s Woe

Due to the nature of the lightstone’s corruption, the essence of ectoplasm would permeate the stones housing, greatly affecting both mortal descendant and attuned soulweaver alike.

Unattuned: Should any descendant unattuned to the ways of Mysticism [have not gone through the process of Mystic Conjoinment] attempt to activate and wield this bastard sword, a strange feeling would overtake them. The hilt would feel unnatural in their hands, as if the ectoplasm pervading the lightstone and its housing gave the whole thing, blade and hilt in all, a great weight, as if it were double what it ought to be. Once the activator is depressed, the true cost of using this weapon is revealed.

Upon activation, a great lethargy will begin to course through the unattuned wielder’s body. This effect occurs over the course of [10] emotes, surmounting in complete exhaustion, as if the combined heft of the weapon and the horrid screams are sapping the energy from the wielder. Upon the [10]th round, the individual will feel as if they had not slept in days, each significant step or motion requires that the victim roll out of twenty, any roll less than eight preventing them from moving [See T5 Mystic Enervation].

This effect would cease as soon as the weapon was dropped, the exhaustion fading in full over [2] emotes.

Attuned: While this weapon’s purpose is to be used by one blessed with Conjoinment, one such person would not be immune to its effects. Depending on how far along in their journey the wielding Mystic is, the felt effects will vary.

[T1]: Due to the Mystic’s still relatively new connection, their body has not fully comprehended what has happened to them. The effects felt would be identical to those who are unattuned.

[T2]: The Mystic’s body has begun to grow used to this newfound blessing, able to wield this weapon unafraid of the lethargic effects. However, the weapon would still feel quite cumbersome to use, the weapon still feeling twice as heavy as a typical bastard sword.

[T3, T4, T5]: At this point in a Mystic’s Journey, their body will have fully accepted its lot, being able to channel ectoplasm with relative ease compared to their lower tier brethren.

A mystic at these tiers who attempt to use this blade will not suffer from the Lethargic or Weightiness of this weapon, suffering instead from a different malady.

Should any Mystic [Tier 3] or above attempt to hold or wield this weapon, they would find that with prolonged use, a tempest brewed within their soul. While equipped, the unactivated weapon would inflict its wielder with great aggression, minor inconveniences causing a larger outburst than necessary, causing them to be much more willing to start a fight over petty arguments or snide remarks.

Once activated, it would seem as if those Ebretian screams caused a shift in the Mystic’s combat. Gone would be any attempt for tact, it having given way to pure, unbridled fury. As combat commences, the wielder would fly into something of a cold berserker's rage, the only thought in their mind being to kill their foe; to cast their soul into the Ebrietas.

This fury may subside once the blade is deactivated, though the general aggression would remain as long as the weapon is equipped.

    The Blessed Blade

    Og1JIJMsShXYQe60dcQvRvqmg0B3sOlNzKq7QKy72uB_YxzJdZipOo8YugLApMLDeftcEwPq5lP2CMGc4gEUpdU71iTZCpt0ymIW60ubFOLoE05F06iCZ754GoCVwEXzblkaqiX08XqOZ0mnNZunIxg

The Orison of Xannic Armaments which gave this hilt its power has now been changed, shifted by ectoplasmic hindering. Where the effect of Xannic Fervour would be anathema to darkspawn, this blade may now strike spirits as if they were being struck by steel, mirroring the effects of a Mystic Blade’s “Spiriting” spell.

This being said, due to the power source being a lightstone, albeit corrupted, there are some saving graces. A paladin’s Xannic mists have little to no effect in demanifesting the blade, striking it as if it were normal ferrum. Along with this, Aurum cannot fully demanifest the blade upon first contact, but should it be struck with [5] heavy, intentional blows, the blade will demanifest, needing to be reactivated.

The blade itself would be as strong and as heavy as ferrum, able to be broken or shattered by any means capable of shattering steel. Along with this, should the weapon come into contact with Null Arcana or Thanhium, the blade would short-out, unable to be used until the relevant turns have passed.

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

    The Screaming Saber:

    • The whispers, nor screaming, cannot speak in any known (or understandable) language. They are incoherent babble. The voices cannot mimic any players.
    • While jarring and brash, the screams that emit from Ember’s Wrath will never provide an advantage in combat. (They cannot be used to disrupt casting or deafen someone, it is purely aesthetic).

    Wielder’s Woe:

    • Both unattuned descendants (meaning without a Mysticism MA) and T1 Mystics feel both the Lethargy and Excess Weight when wielding the weapon.
    • The Lethargy starts upon activation of the blade and surmounts at the [10]th emote of use.
    •  Upon the [10]th round of Lethargy, each significant step or motion requires that the victim roll out of twenty, any roll less than eight preventing them from moving.
    • The weight of the weapon is doubled, making it unnatural and unwieldy to use for lower tier mystics and mortal descendants.
    • The Lethargy ceases upon deactivation or dropping of the weapon, fully dissipating after [2] emotes.
    • The rage and aggression inflicted on T3 mystics and above is the same as with a Ragegeist [See Mysticism: Minor Hexes]

    Blessed Blade:

    • Xannic mists react to the blade as if the blade was made of pure ferrum.
    • If the blade is struck with [5] heavy, intentional blows of an Aurum weapon, it will demanifest, needing to be reactivated.
    • Thanium shorts out the blade, effecting Ember’s Wrath the same as it would against any enchanted/magical object.
    • Null Arcana shorts out the blade, effecting Ember’s Wrath the same as it would against any enchanted/magical object.
    • Similar to the effects of a Mystic’s Spiriting spell, the blade may come into contact with spirits, harming them as if they were struck with steel.
    • The blade and crossguard bear the same strength and weight as normal ferrum.
    • The Orison of Xannic Armaments/Xannic Fervour no longer may harm darkspawn with its burning effect. It will be rendered inert as ferrum.
    • [2] emotes to activate. The blade will be dispelled if the weapon is deactivated or lost.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

This weapon is made possible by the corruption of a Xannic Orison, its lightstone, melded with menhir rock (see: Relic Creation) and hindered by a Barrowlord and three T4 Mystics, and its hilt equally hindered with added menhir.

This now corrupted lightstone is placed within a hindered hilt, causing those unattuned and weaker mystics to fall prey to a contact curse, similar to hexing. Once placed inside, an activator fashioned of Menhir stone may be depressed to produce a summonable blade (akin to Xannic Armaments and Mystic Blade Spiriting), taking on the ghost-harming effects of Spiriting.

Previously an Orison of Xannic Armaments, the effects of the now hindered and corrupted item has shifted, while its general principles of activation remain the same.
