Sam’s likely response would likely be one of surprise. After living a life in the forests, the idea of other people is still a bit of a shock. He’d likely sputter out an answer without thinking too much. After realizing he’d kept himself alive for two years he’d likely instantly say “Adventure” whether it’s that he really seeks or not. He’s used to trusting the only person he knew, his mother, so he would likely find great trust in the man immediately and not pick up on red flags right away if the gentleman has any intention of harming/stealing from Sam.
