Soon we will bring the liberation of death onto the lesser races for they are wretched spawn that plague our world.

"What a racist statement!" - uttered a certain high elf, holding a missive in his hand. He laid it on the table, with an exhale: "A waste of paper that can only attract unwashed barbarians. A disgrace to the Malikind, truly," he concluded, beginning to brew some mint tea in the teapot.

  2. Somewhere beyond the Silver Bastion, the former Sohaer of Haelun'or Idendril Elassidil received the news of the imminent election, and of the first candidate "At last, after so many years of expectation, I shall have a successor. Truly, good tidings come from elCihi. For peace and prosperity of our kin. Ay'Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya, ay'Sohaer Maheral'ehya." She then hurried to retrieve her favorite book by Alaion Miravaris from her bag, making sure the signature of the missive was authentic.

  3. "Morgue, Head Mortician, Burials.." a certain elf put aside the paper of the missive, suitable only for kindling, closed his eyes, and sighed heavily "Do they even realize that they are not in Fenn? Haelun'or has different traditions. Civilized traditions."

  4. "Attempt of an Uthir to legitimize her rule and spread more lies about the innocent denizens of Haelun'or attacked in their own city," muttered Liewyn, sipping tea in the basement of one of the houses outside the city walls "If she wished to know the will of elHeial'malauriran, she would not run away from a public debate. Her only instrument is the sword, and it brings neither legitimacy nor public support. Death to the tyrants," the young elf concluded.

  5. The last Sohaer of the Silver State, barbarically murdered by Fennic warriors backing the bandit princess's claim to the Republic of Haelunor, was recalling in her final days the guidance of the okarir'tir Miravaris. The relentless dedication to the pursuit of progress and prosperity of the Larihei 's kin had inspired many of his students.

For many years now, the blood of the 'thill is shed by the invaders, seeking to force the denizens of Haelun'or to abandon their culture, tradition, and kind. As they did during the pillage of Karinah'siol, the same individuals now roam the streets in search of their next victims. The Uthirates and the Princedoms are incompatible with the concept of Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya, with the Motherland of the High Elves. No sword can make a man ruler of mali'thill, and so, as the legacy of Izalith, the legacy of the Uthirs will be rejected by the children of Larihei.

In one of the offices of the Silver Citadel beneath the portrait of the former Sohaer Alaion Miravaris was an inscription:

    Larihei, kae'len cruan sulier, ay'kae vallumer'ehya

Elihnsil, Elberr, kina'ehya, laean kae wynne myumiereyae

    ay'nae'leh sirame k' taliiyhe, ay'elcihil k' cruare

    il'iylkarim, mirueln thill'ehya ito kae'leh.

  6. Somewhere in the depths of the Eternal Library, in a half-lit hall, stood a pedestal with a scroll from Asulon. On the paper, now yellowed with time, was still clearly visible the phrase: "Haelun'or is where practioners of elMaehr'sae Hiylun'ehya are."

Yet another day comes, and the breeze that sweeps through elCihi echoes, "Ito Iyat'ante Haelun'or."

    OOC (sadly):

    Spoiler

Unfortunately, once more I am dragged to leave a comment. I am impressed how the roleplay post got so much OOC background. Especially directed against the player who is not a part of LOTC for more than 2 years now, and against the group of people that was actively contributing to the roleplay and LOTC community. I am glad to see that not only I was embarassed by this.

Anyways, that would be quite interesting and justified development of the roleplay, if it was not backed by enormous OOC pressure and "toxicity" towards "racist" "nazi-elf" community. I can only dream that one day those people will finally read any High elven lore piece and understand it. I would recommend to start with the Ultimate High Elven Guide Of High Elven Knowings.

I wish that the post would be saved unchanged for future LOTC generations, truly a historical example of a decent roleplay.

  7. The sound of the Silver City echoes the impermanence of all things;
The color of flowers reveals the truth that to flourish is to fall.
    The proud do not endure, like a passing dream on a night in spring;
The mighty fall at last, to be no more than dust before the wind.

    INTRODUCTION

“Rooting out impurity is an eternal battle, though paramount for our permanence. Without the struggle await only toil and everlasting torment.”

    Malaurir Dimaethor Elervathar

The Silver Sanctum is built on Laws and Principles well-rooted in maehr’sae hiylun’ehya and the teachings of Malauriran traced back many centuries. Where our story resumed in Atlas, during the era of re-enlightenment in the Silver Enclave of Fi’halen, a law appropriate for our humble size was adopted. The Motherland has since been restored, though the Old Law served us well, it is of the view of elHeial’thilln that the re-introduction of The Obvious Laws and The Dichotomy of Lewdness is imperative for the next step in our march onwards.

    CHAPTER I

    THE OBVIOUS LAWS

“The venerated society of the mali’aheral will not tolerate those who cannot abide by the simplest of civilised behaviours. For those who are incapable of deducing such things (or philosophers who tend to debate the existential qualities of “laws” and the purposelessness of attempting to order a world that is fundamentally chaotic, or perhaps something equally irritating) I shall write a guide of laws that should be, to most civilized beings, obvious.”

    Malaurir Lucion Sullas

ARTICLE 1.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or will not tolerate the ineffable natures of violent beasts.

This extends into any and all acts of physical aggression upon another, Mali’aheral or not, who are allowed within the state. Violence is the tool of the primitive, and all disputes can and should be solved by means of civil discussion. Such violence will only be permitted when absolutely necessary - for example when one finds themselves in immediate danger and self-defence is required.

ARTICLE 2.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or will not tolerate the loathsome fingers of uncontrolled greed.

Theft of any conceivable nature is frowned upon greatly by any and all who deem to perform it. There is no exception to this rule. A society that disregards the call of the petty coin has little patience for those whose greed is akin to the Bortu.

ARTICLE 3.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or will not tolerate the meanderings of unscrupulous and alien wanderers.

Those who are deemed unworthy will not be allowed entrance. Those who are allowed within will be on a very short leash. Should they irritate enough of the citizenry, foreign beings will be ejected--by force if necessary.

ARTICLE 4.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or will not tolerate the purity of their citizens purposely tarnished out of hedonistic glee.

Purity is not in the eyes of the beholder. It is in the venerated manners of our Mali’thill ancestors where we find guidance in purity. It is not enough that one’s heart is pure--for only when one’s mind and blood remains unmuddied can true purity be gained.

ARTICLE 5.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or will not tolerate the disgraceful and irrational destruction of written thought.

Knowledge and written thought is completely imperative for progression and preservation of our people; a custom rooted in maehr’sae hiylun’ehya. The destruction of tomes of any value within the great library is to be treated as a crime akin to both violence, and theft.

ARTICLE 6.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or will not tolerate purposeful mutilation of oneself.

To ensure the purity of body of all residents of the State, the mutilation of one’s body for reasons aesthetic is hereby banned. Medical licensing and governmental approval can be acquired by those with individual needs, but the harming of one’s own body through piercing and other means is, as is necessary for soundness of mind, to be rejected. This extends to the dyeing of one’s hair.

ARTICLE 7.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or will not tolerate attire which obscures one’s identity.

To ensure the safety of the Mali’thill, and indeed of all blessed citizens, it has been determined that the wearing of overly large hoods, helmets, full masks, and other forms of obscuring perception of identity both through worn attire and magics is hereby banned among all non-citizens and non-mali’thill of the State.

ARTICLE 8.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or will not tolerate public slanderous speech by untempered tongues toward invited guests, or allies, of the Blessed Republic.

All in The Silver State of Haelun’or remains courteous and hospitable to all invited guests to The Silver State of Haelun’or, and denounces any who publicly slander her allied nations or factions. The scattering and distribution of slander and anti-purity propaganda concerning The Blessed Republic puts the stability and health of the State and Populous at risk.

    CHAPTER II

    THE DICHOTOMY OF LEWDNESS

“The filth accumulates, not in the sewers, but in our very streets. The waste that pollutes the once clean walkways of Haelun’or is carried in the hearts of her children. To purge the city, she must expel these waste-bearers, for they are disgraceful, lliran. Our city weeps, and her silver tears leak away the memory of a once great civilization. Larihei lives in disrepute, and we are to blame. We have not lived up to her.. Examine your hands, and the hands of your lliran. It is time to wash away the filth of the streets."

    Anve’vuln Lazul

ARTICLE 1.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or shall not participate in physical fraternization outside of marriage.

This crime disrespects the very nature of the matrimonial union. Unmarried Citizens who physically fraternize disregard the purpose of intercourse, and cause unruly distraction, emotional disruption, and in the worst case scenario - consequences of bastardization, a terrible crime, considering it taints the reputation of an otherwise innocent mali’aheral child.

ARTICLE 2.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or shall not participate in physical fraternization with a minor (a minor being any mali less than 50 years of age).

Children are indeed the most precious safeguard of our kin. Subjecting an emotionally immature mind to such matters is unacceptable. Let it be known that mali under the age of 50 are unable to give consent, as their uninformed opinions towards this subject are too juvenile to be capable of discernment.

ARTICLE 3.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or shall not participate in public fraternization of an intimate nature.

A disrespect of peers and the City’s dignity itself, those who violate this covenant of Haelun’or’s sanctity deserve not to walk her halls.

ARTICLE 4.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or shall not participate in fraternization of any intimate sort with impures, or other races.

Preservation of life itself resides in the idea of purity. To lay waste to one’s untainted mali’aheral blood is a crime no less potent than murder of another citizen.

ARTICLE 5.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or shall not participate in non-consensual physical fraternization.

Larihei is blind to you, desecrators of this law. It is beyond reproach. You will meet a swift judgement.

ARTICLE 6.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or shall not participate in intimate fraternization of a homosexual nature.

All who engage in intimacy in a public or private with a member of the same gender should be treated as unclean, dirtying the sights of their fellows with such a display of uncivilized, unproductive lust.

ARTICLE 7.   The Blessed Residents of The Silver State of Haelun’or shall not participate in incestuous intimate fraternization of any kind.

No self-respecting mali will need explanation as to why this type of behavior is both obscene and illegal.

    CHAPTER III

    THE RETURN TO PURITY

“You are more Mali’thill than you admit. Learn of your ancestors, of the past, it will guide your future. Restore honour and pride in your long wayward heart.”

    Malaurir Dimaethor Elervathar

The Path to Purity is an ancient process. The Mali’thill are a people of mercy, rejecting violent punishments in favour of that which will have true lasting impact; re-education. As the Mali’ata has wronged our venerated race, they must seek redemption in the eyes of all who would call themselves Mali’thill. As such, they must gain the forgiveness of all who dwell within the pure lands.

    THE FOUR STAGES FOR PURIFICATION

STAGE 1.   The Drawing of the Curtain

The Mali’ata must be sincere in their desire to become a part of our society once more, and be willing to perform all the tasks asked of them. They must be willing to acknowledge the wrongness of the crimes they have committed against their kin and the Silver State as a whole.

Should they not conform to this ideal, they shall not be allowed to return.

    STAGE 2.   Righteous Revulsion

Should the Mali’ata be sincere, and willing, they will be allowed to enter the city. Here, they must seek out every Laurir within its walls, and tell them individually of the crimes they have committed towards Mali’aheral. They will then, after informing each individual of the crimes, ask for forgiveness from each. The Laurir may ask the Mali’ata of anything, and the Mali’ata will do as they ask with great vigour and a calm disposition in a manner befitting any true Mali’aheral. The labours the Mali’ata provided are but a pittance in exchange for the attacks on purity they have performed.

As Laurir, standards of good judgement are expected and a request which calls to question the logic of itself will reflect negatively upon themselves if inadequately explained. Should a Laurir request a task that clashes with the laws of the city, the individual shall be punished according to the crimes they requested to be committed.

The Mali’ata may not advance to the next stage unless every Laurir gives their forgiveness.

    STAGE 3.   Learning the Way

All Mali’ata must understand and revere the maehr’sae hiylun’ehya, as it is the very phrase that defines our people, our culture, and our civilisation. Those that lack an understanding, or adequate interpretation, of the maehr’sae hiylun’ehya will find themselves shortly more unwelcome than they had been previously.

The Mali’ata shall be assigned a teacher from the pure Blessed Citizenry, the duty of whom it will be to teach the Mali’ata maehr’sae hiylun’ehya. During this stage, the teacher may assign to the Mali’ata multiple tasks which they must complete in order to advance to the next stage.

At the end of this process, they may be tested by members of the Silver Council of their knowledge regarding the blessed phrase.

    STAGE 4.   Acceptance

The Mali’ata, after gaining forgiveness and understanding the apex of our culture, will be called to an assembly of all volunteering citizens. Here it will be decided by the majority whether the Mali’ata may become a part of the exalted society and resume their title of Mali’thill. Should the Citizenry decide that the actions of the mali’ata are satisfactory, they shall again be considered a Citizen. The mali’ata will regain their title of Mali’thilln and they may see Lareh’thilln as their home once more.

With the conclusion of this final step, a celebration should be held - as they have obtained citizenship.

    CHAPTER IV

    THE SILVER TRIBUNAL

“I ate the cake, and neither trial nor tribunal shall undo my consumption.”

    Galanthil Maehr’indor

In the event that a citizen of Haelun’or is accused of violating any of the above laws and is summoned to stand trial, a set three pariran’tir (judges) are appointed to operate as a panel of decision makers. These judges, once appointed, shall deliberate upon the accused’s guilt. When a decision is made, punishment as appropriate will be delivered at their discretion. If the judges so desire more evidence, they may call for a testimonial, or a character witness.

The parir’tir (judge) is chosen based on a hierarchy of respect and authority, namely:

    a)   Malauriran

    b)   Lauriran

    c)   Okariran

    d)   First Class Citizen

Should the accused not appear to the time they were summoned, they shall be considered guilty and a sentence shall be issued by the pariran’tir in their absence.

    CHAPTER V

    THE PUNISHMENTS OF THE STATE

“Haelun’or has proven herself to be efficient in cleansing society from the corrupt minds. Whether that may be through execution or banishment, we drive out plagues by grace of our rigorous loyalty to the maehr’sae hiylun’ehya.”

    Malaurir Iaria Elervathar

    THE FIRST TIER OF PUNISHMENTS

For minor infractions and crimes against order, either by discretion of the Maheral, the Sohaer, the Okarir’tir or the Pariran’tir after a concluded trial, the guilty may be punished with:

    Mandated cultural classes

    Mandated civil service

    Fines

    THE SECOND TIER OF PUNISHMENTS

For repeated violation of The Obvious Laws or The Dichotomy of Lewdness, by discretion of the Pariran’tir after a concluded trial, the guilty may be punished with all things in the first tier, as well as:

    Stripping of property

    Annulment of marriage

    The Path to Purity

    THE THIRD TIER OF PUNISHMENTS

For the most heinous crimes, where there is no reason to believe the guilty may ever reform, only death is fitting. The sentence may be made by discretion of the Pariran’tir after a concluded trial.

  9. After a long and arduous conversation in the house of Ni’leya Talonnii okarir’mali Idendril Elassidil decided to take a walk around the city. Behind the Silver Walls, one could not hear the roar of war tearing the continent apart or the cries of the victims of its endless conflicts. The noise of the Silver City was different. As she passed the Elibar'acal family home, she saw through the window the familiar faces of the high elves discussing the latest news over a cup of tea. They wondered where Sohaer Ni'leya had gone, for they used to see him every day coming out of his house, striding towards the square, with a lively, upbeat expression on his face. They did not yet know what had happened to their Sohaer. Idendril turned her somber gaze away from the window of the house as she carried on her way. She mused to herself: “And yet elSohaer is right. Our Motherland needs help more than ever. To get back on the path of elMaehr'sae Hiylun'ehya, to return to the ancient traditions, still requires a lot of effort. And a lot has already been achieved through the tireless efforts of Braxus...  As one of the first mali'thill to accept the call of Haelun’or, I am proud to say that my contribution to our common cause has also borne the fruits of progress.”

From the height of the Upper District, an excellent view of the bustling city opened up. In the distance, close to the city gates, reformed by the Sohaer Ni'leya, elSillumiran had set up a formation, planning to set out on another expedition. Opposite the Weeping Blades could be seen the inn, parts of which were still adorned with the decorations from the recent grand celebration of the nation's anniversary. Inside sat two high elves, engrossed in a game of chess, while behind the bar, a young dark elf was brewing some tea. Idendril's gaze drifted towards the Market District, hoping to find a place of solitude. But there, too, were elves strolling between the newly opened shops, and away from them, a group of mages gathered, discussing plans for future research. She muttered aloud: "Everywhere there is a trace of his achievements, of his work..." she turned towards the Eternal Library, continuing on her way in search of encouragement.

The Eternal Library was immersed in the same, traditional, eternal silence. Idendril walked between the rows of bookcases, her gaze moving from one book to another. Then a sudden glance caught sight of the elf, local librarian, clearly busy sorting books. The elfess decided not to disturb him, walking silently past. Amidst the rows of recently written books, she spotted a familiar work by Braxus Ni'leya. Opening it, she stopped her eyes at the line, regarding the gifts of the Golden Pools and the most important gift, that was the altering of the soul - enshrined in all ‘thill, - The Silver Soul. Suddenly, in that already familiar phrase, Idendril found awareness of her own need - She had found freedom

Setting the book down in its place, she headed towards the Citadel with an accelerated stride. Hastily ascending the pure-white steps, she reached the door of the Council Chamber. Pulling the handle on the door, she stepped inside. Surprisingly the councilors were assembled, it was clear by the look on their faces that the news had already been revealed to them, though each had a different reaction. At the Council meeting, Idendril advocated the position that Haelun'or needs to continue the reforms proposed by Braxus Ni'leya. In the course of the debate, during the first election for the Sohaer title in a long time, Idendril won the majority. She concluded, "Together, elHeial'thilln will finish the work of our llir, the former Sohaer of Haelun'or, and restore the traditions of the Silver City, extending the privilege of Blessed Citizenry, the privilege of representation to elMali’thill.” Stepping out of the Citadel, Sohaer Elassidil took a deep breath. A lot was to be done, but based on the foundation of the work of Sohaer Ni'leya, true son of Larihei, everything seemed possible.

A fresh breeze rolled through the Blessed Republic of Haelun'or.

  10.

    [!]

From the depths of the Eternal Library, two studies were copied for those residents of Haelun’or who wished to learn about the nature of snow elves and the threat coming from these creatures.

    Parasite of the Mind:

A Theory on Snow Elven Origination

~Asthil Haumel, Annilir of the Beru'cinhir of Lin'ame

The emergence of the mentally deranged snow elves, or "Mali'fenn" as they have named themselves, has been a subject of my thought for some time now. It is claimed by some of them that their kin were simply always in hiding or had forgotten their ancestry, but there have never been any historical records mentioning Mali'fenn or any similar snow-dwelling elven populations. Immigration from distant and unknown lands is also unlikely, since the snow elves seem to possess intimate knowledge of the history of our own lands. In my deliberations, I have been forced to propose that there is only one way for such a divergent and societally abstracted race of Mali could have emerged: a parasite of the mind.

    06a6de2ed43540f0ff4b946a89681408-d57v0gq

The nature of the parasite eludes me: perhaps it is physical, as in this dramatic illustration. Or perhaps it is magical, or spiritual, or pathological as a disease or virus. Regardless of its status in reality, the effects of it can be seen clearly. Sometime in the course of Anthosian history, a group of elves encountered the parasite, and became the first generation of hosts. Forced into action by the disease within them, the infected elves sought out other hosts and infected them as well. With an initial population now existing, the memories and personalities of the mind-enslaved mali were devoured, replaced by implanted memories and coerced ideals.

In this, the sudden appearance of the snow elves is well-explained: once they were ordinary elves, but have now been repurposed to a sinister cause: to follow the will of the virus and to spread it to as many potential elven hosts as possible. Indeed, on numerous occassions the 'Princedom of Fenn' has sent missives out across the Fringe, calling upon the elven race to converge to them in the name of prosperity and unification. It is thought that notably few answered this call, but who is to say that some of our missing beloved did not seek them out and became the slaves of the social parasite?

From this theory, the political affiliations of the snow elves are also well-explained. Their vehement hatred of Haelun'or and its associated elven settlements stems from a simple biological imperative: competition. The Silver City is the last remaining elven power aside from the snow elven movement: if they are to be destroyed, then there shall be none left to oppose the mali'fenn as being 'the' elven home.

Moreover, the infamous words that 'Grand Prince' Tundrak gave to none other than Oren's own Emperor's face can also be explained as the parasite working with limited information. Likely it would have gleaned knowledge of the unfortunate conflict between elvenkind and humankind in Anthos from the minds of its infected. In their deranged minds, the parasite would then conclude that Oren is a force that shall continue to destroy potential host-bodies, and so they must be stopped so that the mental infection may flourish.

Furthermore, the incomprehensible relations that the snow elves have established with Alras and the dwarven nation of Urguan can also be interpreted in this light. It is well-known that there does exist a large population of elves that live within Alras: those of many, sometimes unsavory, character. Voracious in appetite for more host-bodies, the snow elves settled near Alras in order to have access to their prey, which otherwise remains safely locked away within Haelun'or. Relations with the dwarves who lived beneath the Alrasians became convenient, and perhaps that explains why an elven population began worshipping a dwarven deity. The culture was adapted to entice the dwarves into alliance, and they unknowingly were blinded by it.

After the Alrasians began to resist and repel disturbances in their city lead by snow elves, the parasite decided that it must claim the elves of Alras by force. Thereafter, war was declared, and the world looked in awed fascination as the deranged snow elves proceeded to insult the Emperor of Oren and then beg for forgiveness afterwards.

The ways in which this theory fits so well to the known events instills within me a great dread. For not only are the snow elves simply yet another group of elves who descended into insanity, but they bring with them a slavery of the mind that they actively desire to spread to others. Indeed, I have seen with my own eyes an elf who became infected and began to act and speak disturbingly, before he left and was adapted into snow elven society.

The danger of this cannot be expressed enough: the very sanity and cognitive independence of the elven race is at stake here. The snow elves should not be treated as an amusement, or with apathy. Guard yourselves from their touch, mali.

    For they are contagious.

    BEWARE, MALI’AHERAL!

    ~Nerithil Valarieth, former Okarir’maehr

Reject the normalisation of the Mali’fenn disease which has plagued the descendants since their sudden appearance just mere centuries ago!

To attempt to understand the rationale behind the actions of those that call themselves ‘Mali’fenn’, is a pointless and arduous task, one which any ‘thill with sense will avoid entertaining. Their ways are driven only by primal instinct, for they are not truly capable of much coherent thought. The physical appearance of an ‘atafenn is both grotesque and pitiful, for it is proven that, of the mali, they hold the least regard towards any sense of elegance. Shown by their avoidance of selective breeding, leading to a horrid amalgamation of a race with no real identity or worth. The spawn of such creatures is a foul sight to behold, only the ice-cold blooded ‘atafenn would subject a child to a life of such misery and deformity.

But rejoice Mali’thill for we still stand far above the Maliata’fenn, whose every thought and action is tainted by their willingness to let an absurdity of emotions guide them. We, the Blessed Citizens of Haelun’or, will not so easily succumb to such irrationality through our steadfast willpower, given unto us by our strict adherence to maehr’sae hiylun’ehya, which is clearly beyond the comprehension of the simple minded ‘ata.

Below is a rare image of the philistine Faux-Prince Aelthir Tundrak II. The children of Haelun’or will have already been instructed to distribute copies amongst the Citizenry so all will know the horrors that lie within the Fennic lands.

But fear not, my fellow Mali’thill, for under the protection of our brave Sillumiran, the putrid cretins that threaten the sanity of the realm shall be repelled. Individually they pose no threat to any mature ‘thill, since they barely have the cognitive ability to stand straight. However, as a collective they can threaten to overwhelm anyone caught in their narrow line of sight. It is not known if the ata’fenn operate within a hive mind, however their consistently baffling behaviour has led many of our esteemed academics to believe that they definitely act in some sort of basic unison with one another. Regardless, it is the policy of the Silver Council to ensure the health of the nation remains untainted by such nefarious beings.

While we, the enlightened few, can live in bliss atop our plateau, we must not forget the darkness that dwells in distant lands and instead strive to protect any lost children of Larihei from falling victim to the horde of travesties that lies within Fenn.
