Nemerosa and Apiana, my High Elf father and Wood Elf mother, are both scholars and highly accomplished authors. They had great difficulty in conceiving me, sometimes citing Iblees’ curse. “Malin, I curse you with sterility, you and your kin shall forever lack the children they need. May your forest halls forever be silent, and your hearts heavy with sadness,” from paragraph 11 ch. 1 of Elven origins: Wood elves. When I was eventually born, I was born frail and weak. My parents took care to ensure my safety, and kept me away from the other children. Instead of playing outside with my peers, I read field guides about the local wildlife, and observed from my window the micro ecosystem of my backyard. Nature had me enthralled from a young age and it still fascinates me. My family followed Green law and tried to keep our impact on the environment to a minimum. Our village kept no pets and all farmed animals were allowed to roam free. Waste was kept to a minimum. The main religion in our house was the wild path. My parents were not true believers of this religion, but instead used the teachings as guidelines for how to best live a life in tune with nature. “Known as the Green Law, this was the word of law followed by the Ame’onn in day-to-day life. It laid out the laws for living in the asimulum, the punishments for breaking them, and the exceptions. It was the culmination of months of debate amongst the founders of the Ame’onn, and the resultant set of laws was put into place to be enforced by the populace at large. It emphasised balance with nature, the goals of the Ame’onn, the value of their existence, and the importance of their isolation.” Ch. 2 paragraph 4 of Ame’onn Throughout my youth I reveled in literature of all kinds. I eventually stumbled upon stories of Irrin Sirame, slayer of the usurper Garthon. She too, was a frail child, yet she grew up to become a hero. “An arrow pierced through through his back, penetrating his heart. It caught him completely off-guard. The last thing the tyrant usurper Garthon saw before his death was the lithe figure of Irrin Sirame standing before him, bow in hand.” Paragraph 19 Ch. 7 of Elven Origins: Wood Elves. I picked up a training bow and my mother’s leather bracers and began honing my skills, hoping to one day become like my role model. Working day and night, target practice consumed me until I felt prepared to face the real world. Now that I am a practiced archer, I have left my ancestral home of the forest realm of Irrinor in search of stories, adventure, and research opportunities.
