Sakaiha Saban, an entirely average Heartlander, grew up on the streets of Haense where stole and fought to survive. It isn’t that he grew up poor, or that his family died; his family chose to leave behind as a small boy. He quickly met another boy, named Rorin, who was a few years older than him. This boy showed him the ropes to survive, such as: pickpocketing, beginner hand-to-hand combat (mainly grappling), and places to find shelter. They survived together for three years until Rorin was found slaughtered and ripped apart. This is one Sakaiha’s deepest fear was developed, the learning of Knox. This devastated Sakaiha, but this didn’t make him angry. It made him scared. He chose to try and turn his life around for a sense of safety. Thinking that, somehow, becoming more known and involved might be able to protect him somehow. He went through a number of jobs through his teenage years: busboy, bartender, and butcher’s assistant. Stupidly, at the age of 22, he got into gambling. This wasn’t basic gambling, though, it was betting on fights. He even got convinced to compete where he didn’t go on to be anything spectacular, but he learned to defend himself from most. His career was short-lived, roughly 3 years, and he went back to do basic tasks for people for money. Such as: cleaning, cooking, and being a mule for hunters. However, one of the hunters, whom never gave their name, gave him a recurve bow and gave him minor lessons in shooting. He chose to use this as the basis for his survival as he would practice to become an average shot and hunt on his own. His career in fighting and his use of the bow are the reason for his slightly muscular build. Always lean because he’s never been able to live in excess. His charming and optimistic personality shine because he survived an extremely rough childhood and doesn’t believe anything will ever be harder.
