Turnip School Of Learning

My dear halflings, we as a people know so many things. But for the longest time, we have not had a place or a way to teach our youngins those many things we know. We have such a deep history and culture and many skilled artisans and inventors, but still, you find youngins wandering out into the biggun world to find teaches of such skills and history. And though I am a deep supporter of leaving this village to explore the lands and show biggun what a halfling can do, It saddens me to see the skills and trades of years past fade away. 

So, friends, this has led me to today, I am opening a school for halfling of all age! But though I have many hopes and dreams for this school, I know I can not do it alone. So to my dear halflings, new and old, I ask for you to sign up to teach a class at the Turnip School Of Learning!

Anne sits on the ground petting her favorite pet rat wondering aloud, “ wha’ fights’ was oi in the oi go’ attacked?”

Anne has been gone for a month or so now and, many of the halflings have gotten notes from her, but none have seen her yet. Will they be able to come together to solve the puzzle and find the villages missing little girl? Only time will tell.

OOC: Tuesday, Oct 20th at 5:30 est, the Find Anne event will start; everyone who wants to join in should meet up outside Fort hope at that time. Over the next few days, I will be leaving hits with different people as to where Anne is, and it will be up to the halfling village to come together with their clues to help find Anne. I suggest starting sharing your possible clue with one another now! But be careful friends, there are some red hanging in there!

A young girl sits in the sands of her destroyed village’s beaches, her breathing slow, and her hands shaking. Sitting before her is the crown of the long-dead Rat King. She’s been the owner of this crown for as long as she could remember. It had been given to her by her mother after they and other halfling stumble upon the old Rat King’s dead body. Ever since that day, the young girl carried the crown with her, sometimes wearing it on her head, and other times carrying it in her bag. Looking back, perhaps the crown had always been fated to become the little girls, or maybe it was merely by chance the crown ended up in the hands of one so befitting of it. After all, the young girl had always had a closeness with animals, rats, especially. But that matter not anymore, as on this night, the little girl would pick up the crown running her fingers over it’s deeply embedded emeralds, tears filling her eyes. She had lost everything, her family, her home, her hope, and now as her kin spread far and wide to find themselves a new home, the young girl had tried for so long to keep her people happy. But such a task is impossible. If only someone had told the child that, then perhaps she would not have taken her kin’s unhappiness to heart as a failer on her part. But alas, the child had never been told such a thing. And now she would raise up from the sands holding her crown high. The words of her most trusted friends ringing in her ear, “You’re mother feels no one loves her.”. Over and over again, it would play in her head like a sick twisted melody to a symphony of anguish. The girl had failed so many people, their unhappiness as proof, and now her own mother. The girl would lower the crown, placing it on her head. With the moon and stars as her witness, the girl would crown herself The Rat Queen.

    “To the lost and broken, the empty and hopeless, I The Rat Queen, offer you a chance at a new life. When you find yourself with nowhere left to go, crying out into the night, my children will find you and guide you to your rightful home at my side. I offer you my love, a new family, and a chance to start again. All I ask of you is that you come to me with all you are, the bad and good, your pain and joy, anger and fear. You need not worry once you are amongst your kind, loves, for we will keep you safe and rase you from the darkness you have found yourself in.”

Little Anne chuckles as she reads over the paper, “Well well this is goin’ teh beh fun!”

Anne reads over to notice “Yes CHEESE!” She yells as she runs home.

Anne sits on the beach after learning of her sister death. Anne isn’t crying nor is she filled with anger. The halfling girl simply looks drained, empty, and hopeless. She sits in silence watching the waves as her word one again crumbles around her. “Alone...” Anne whispers, “take care Ki’ find Polo and uncle keep em safe. Oi’ll see yeh real soon.”

Anne reads over them paper as she makes her way back to her hiding place, “Greta oi’m so proud of yeh fur keepin’ peace. Oi really hope good thin’s come from this fur teh village”

Anne reads over the paper from her hideout as a few tears run down her face “oi’m so sorry oi wish oi could be there fur yeh two.”

Anne smiles “hope oi ge’ teh see more of meh family soon!”

Anne sits and reads the paper out loud to Sam and the other rats “Oi’m so proud of all teh halflin’s! We bes’ keep trainin’ if weh ever wan’ teh help in teh figh’in’!”

Anne quickly glances past the notice doing her best to speed read it as she runs by “fishin‘ tournamen’ bes’ ge’ practicin’!” She say between gasps for air as she continues her run. 

Anne Gardener sits on her bed staring across the room to the now forever empty bed of her twin brother. Just like the empty bed Anne two is empty having lost her other half.  Sitting in her room she makes a promise, “Polo oi promise yeh he’ll pay. Oi failed yeh twice oi won’ do et again.”

Anne lays upside down on her bed and reads over the newspaper with a grin, “Oi beat yeh et checkers one day Filibert jus’ yeh wha’!”
