There is a (rather concerningly) common military and architectural philosophy in Aevos that people should intentionally leave big, glaring weaknesses in their defences ‘tO mAkE tHiNgS mOrE fUn’ or ‘bEcAuSe iT iS mOrE aEsThEtIc’

The man drank his tea and stapled it to his board - remembering that for later.

  3. Subject: Appreciation for Druidic Ritual Lore Piece

    Dear [Author],

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the lore piece you've crafted detailing various rituals for druids.

Your imaginative descriptions vividly bring to life the ancient traditions and mystical practices of these revered nature guardians. The way you've woven together elements of ceremony, cooperation, and reverence for the natural world is truly captivating.

Each ritual you've outlined carries a sense of significance and purpose, reflecting the deep connection between druids and the forces of nature they seek to harmonize with. From influencing weather patterns to fostering the growth of forests, your rituals offer a diverse range of possibilities for storytelling and roleplay.

Moreover, I admire the thoughtfulness you've put into ensuring that these rituals remain balanced and conducive to positive player experiences. By incorporating redlines and requirements, you've provided clear guidelines while still allowing for creative interpretation and exploration.

The Forestation and Tree Sealing rituals, in particular, stand out to me for their narrative potential and thematic resonance. They offer compelling avenues for players to engage with themes of environmental stewardship and the protection of natural habitats.

Overall, your submission adds depth and richness to our world, enriching the lore of druidic practices and offering exciting opportunities for player-driven storytelling.

Thank you for your dedication to enhancing our community with your creativity and passion. I eagerly anticipate seeing these rituals come to life in our shared narrative.

    Warm regards,

    [Your Name]

  5. Cathan stared at the sky where the comets had rained down. They said it had indicated the sun had not set. But he had seen the failures. He had seen the loss of life by failed knightly command structure.

The sun had set on the dream of the Knights who defended the land. If Aurea could build another one, based on the common soldiery that would garrison the land & integrate within the common society - there would be yet another rising of the sun.

The Daelish Commandant no longer believed in the Knights of Xan, however.

  6. Released from a desk within the Vale came a pamphlet informing those coming to volunteer for the defence of the Vale,

"FROM THE DESK OF DEFENCE COUNCIL OF THE VALE,

It is the greatest consideration that the Defence Council has undertaken with the incoming Harrower conflict. Supplies have been ferried; plans have been created; and plans are under the moment in enaction. Furthermore it has also come into our understanding that several groups have made their intentions to join as volunteers clear.

While we, at once, appreciate the willingness of the volunteering groups - we also fundamentally must reorganise these volunteering groups to deny a fall of discipline and communication. These volunteers will work - unless otherwise specified - directly under the command of one Cathan or one Nenar. They will not be allowed to operate autonomously. Furthermore, they will require approval of their joining from one Cathan or one Nenar to maintain discipline within the ranks of the Vale defenders.

To consider why is to consider that many of these volunteers have not been integrated with defence plans from the beginning of the conflict; which means that they will need to be organised into a foreign legion. Furthermore, if we allow these volunteers to organise themselves autonomously, they will break some of our planning doctrine.

Thus these rules are set in stone for volunteers, with the confirmed groupings so far being the Solgaardians and the Paladin Chapter ‘Order of the Golden Lion’. Keep in mind that all Paladins are not approved due to faulty discipline or elsewise.

Punishments for breaking conduct will be as harsh as any law within a warzone.

    Commandant Cathan,

    Nenar."

When shouts are cast a plume of ash exudes from the Herald’s maw as the words are spoken aloud. Only three shouts can be performed during combat before the herald loses their voice. After the combat encounter they will regain it given rest.

"Inaction is atrophy; inaction is paralysis; inaction is death."

    - Ferdinand Foch

During the months following up to the siege, the Nevaehlen Isle would find themselves and their forces gathering resources from the mainland using a pontoon bridge - specifically from the forest directly out to the east. Wood was gathered to deny the enemy resources to be able to create siege equipment to cross the bridge itself or harm the city.

It was then agreed on by those on the isle to burn the forests to deny them cover, to deny them the capacity of potentially using anything leftover, and to provide the defenders even more an advantage over their foe.

Furthermore, the defense council agreed to also blow an potential outpost to deny them a capacity of access.

Late into the night, explosions were sounded by the bridge. It was the completion of works that had long been constructed.

First had come the flooding of the northern plains of the Nevaehlen city, two or three metres deep so that those attempting to besiege the city would not be able to cross into from the northern walls.

Second had come damming of the river, preventing the access of the waterways to those who wish to siege and bring artillery up.

Third came the halting of the usage of the underground caverns buried underneath the ruined city, blocking or burying them - whichever was easier to prevent them movement access.

Now finally had come the implosion of the bridge itself, to prevent easy access from aboveground to the city’s gates.

This would not be the last of the fortifications. Trenches would be constructed on the southern side - close to the palace; outposts would be built around the city & externally; communications systems would be built with alchemy & mirrors; and non-mundane light-sources would be created so that the Vale can defend themselves.

It was as it had been said once, “In the struggle for existence, one does not bother about the means one employs”. Clearly, the command-in-control was taking that saying very literally.

    They're sailing on England,

    Oh! What a shame!

Someone is after our island again!

    We'll let them have it,

    Oh! Yes we will!

But maybe they won't want it when they get the bill!

The man sipped from his canteen as he observed the dimming of the aurora from his post, before removing a journal to note down his observations. He had been aware of the increase of the tundra's perilous conduct and arrived - hopeful in that this was just a momentary lapse of normality. The man ground his teeth in the frustration that his hopes were - once again - dashed.

Just like the Moon Druid with their forests, the Frost Witches would be attempting to make Descendants fear the Tundra.

Cathan would begin to pack up his kit, leaving behind only the small embers of a failing fire, as the man went to write some letters. Valmir was right, probably - her nephew would work himself into his own grave at this rate.

To be frank, in the defense of his way of life, the Commandant wouldn't have it any other way.

The man approached the area where the Druid had fallen with his squadron, observing at a distance - as the grounds had been sanctified through the fight. He'd then lower his head gently, before going to reply to the scene,

"Taliyun died as he would've like to live. Though he did not accomplish all he wished to do - may he rest in peace."

Alfie then turned back to trot back home, having seen enough to satisfy his curiosity as to how one of his comrades had perished.

Cathan stared at the ceiling, before staring at the empty papers on his desk. He'd then begin addressing letters to the various groups & individuals he had gotten involved with over the years.

    Hurin, Vyllaenen, and Warlock:

    Spoiler

"To those that have received this letter,

The contents of this letter is to request your help and provide context for that request. It appears that some kind of Daemonic construct has appeared close to my household - though for what reason, I am unaware. I would believe that it was perhaps summoned by an unknown actor, or actors.

I request your help since I, admittedly, cannot deal with this creature alone despite me fighting Inferi and such in the past. This creature would simply be too much for me - and it would be ill-thought to think I can defeat it alone. I require aid and good men who know how to combat these creatures. That is why I have come into an attempt to contact you to potentially gain your assistance.

I cannot offer reimbursement nor payment for your assistance except for alchemicals. But my hope is you will assist in the defense of my homestead in the Duchy of Brabant, help me find who had done this to put them down for good, and help others come to my aid as well.

If you seek to join, I also would like to request you provide me with liquid mana for Null Arcana to use against the construct.

    Bailey,

    Former Veletzian Tavernkeep."

    Taliyun and Nenar:

    Spoiler

"To those Druids that I have addressed this to,

This is in regards to the blight that has occurred close to my household and endangers my family. It appears that a Daemonic construct was summoned by an unknown assailant, or assailants.

What I am requesting is that you join under me in the Duchy of Brabant and assist in me fighting the summoned creature and finding who did this so that we may prevent this issue from occurring in the future as it has blighted nature and - reportedly from reactions with my fellow comrades - caused pain to my mother. This is, clearly, something we cannot abide on both accounts for causing suffering to people and suffering to the Balance.

I cannot offer much in the way of minae, but I can pay in alchemicals. Feel free to invite those you believe would assist in this military effort.

If you seek to join, I also would like to request you provide me with liquid mana for Null Arcana to use against the construct.

    Regards,

    Cathan."

    Ahren:

    Spoiler

    "Leftenant,

As my father has done for his life before his perishing after a thousand years, we are again called to arms against the Daemonic. We will equip ourselves with our forces alchemically and gather supplies for the coming fight. What I will require assistance procuring is alchemical herbs and liquid mana.

    Regards,

    Commandant Cathan."

    Nimue:

    Spoiler

    "Hey Nim,

You wanna help me kill a demon construct outside my house? I'm gathering a bunch of people to go kill the thing for causing mum pain.

    Your cousin,

    Cathan."

    Amae'li and Valmir:

    Spoiler

    "Hey Amae'li and Valmir,

There's a demon outside my house, the kids are not really safe here currently. Until we deal with them, do you guys mind if we move them into your house in the Vale?

I'm sorry for causing an issue with this, but it's important. I don't think I can fundamentally protect them and keep them safe here in Brabant until I kill the thing.

    From,

    Alfie."

  13. Alfie stared out his window, holding his mug of green tea in both hands. The man then made plans to send his kids away on a 'field trip' for a while and contact a few lads to go kill a demon.

Though admittedly it crossed his mind how dangerously common this was becoming. It was getting frankly confusing how he kept running into these situations.

In the meantime, the man began to stockpile null-arcana and auric-oil. Just for the fight.

  14. Upon the potential chance for the Tavernkeeps to gain their rightful votes, a banner in Adrian colours was unveiled above the entrance of Saint Emma with the following text,

    "We Like Mark!"
