  1. So I did actually join the Brotherhood of St. Karl, and I had some good roleplay with that. Gate duty has sounded fun but I don't actually know when I'm supposed to do it? I've wanted to attend a lot of the BSK's events but the server tends to schedule their events during my work hours, unfortunately. I think my biggest concern relating to all this is engaging the roleplay, if that makes sense? I've had other players randomly engage in rp with me and I get a huge wave of relief over me everytime that I don't have to be the one to start it. I'll probably hop on today and force myself to rp with some folk. Thank you all for the advice.
  2. Hi all! I made an account here awhile ago but only started playing last month. I've had some good rp through some events and I've been really enjoying lotc, but I've come to a problem. I get horrible anxiety any time I even think about engaging in rp with strangers without any particular reason. I can force myself to roleplay fine when it comes to events, but random spur-of-the-moment rp is difficult to engage in. Most of the events that occur in the area my characters in happen while I'm at work. Does anybody have any suggestions to help engage with strangers or perhaps find other events to attend?

Joseph Varanhall was born in the Kindom of Hanseti-Ruska. Although he never knew his father, he was told by his mother that he was a Heartlander, from the Duchy of Adria. His Uncle, Beskev, was his father-figure for most of his life. He was born and raised in the city of Reza. His mother made a living as a tailor and his uncle worked as a guard in the city. For his early childhood, Joseph helped his mother with her work as a tailor. This, however, bored Joseph, as he was more interested in his uncles work. He liked to watch the guards at work, admiring their armor and weapons. Joseph quickly grew an attachment to swords and the like, begging his mother and uncle to allow him one. As soon as he reached the eligible age, Joseph attempted to join the local guard. His uncle refused to allow it, and instead offered to train him with the skills of the blade in his free time. Joseph had learned the basics relatively quickly, forging himself into a competent swordsman. During one of his days free of training, Joseph had visited a local tavern to hang out with friends. A man in the tavern had caught his eye. The stranger wore armor and had a sword at his side. He was also alone, unlike most in the tavern. Joseph attempted to make conversation with the man, eventually discovering he was some kind of monster hunter. This had piqued Josephs interest. The idea of monster hunting was quickly romanticized in Josephs mind. He set his mind towards a new profession in life, monster hunting. Joseph eventually saved up enough coin to buy himself a sword, and sold himself as a bodyguard for different clients for the next few years. Soon enough, Joseph departed from Reza and went south looking to pursue a career in monster hunting.
