N/A, as it is a spell.

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

“There is one song that any frost witch barely remembers- a song from a long ago grandmother, repressed and forgotten; a song held unsung by generations, waiting for some precise, predetermined moment. A song, Kriemhild said, with the power to destroy the world or re-make it depending entirely on how it’s sung.”

    Kriemhild’s Song

This spell, put in simple words, allows the casting witch to use their icy powers for the casting of a nefarious hex upon one singular chosen target within their line-of-sight. Harrowing cries are heard whenever this curse is used, simulating the scream of a banshee spirit growing louder and more erratic in key, pitch and tone.

Given that this spell is tied with the ability of the fjarriagua to manipulate ice and snow to, i.e: ensnare an opponent, the hex manifests onto the selected target in the form of a freezing, musical ensemble.

That is to say, the witch using this curse can entrap their chosen (singular) target in an icy prison, freezing the space over their bodies so long as they are not of an Olog’s size and strength:

In order to cast this spell, the casting frost witch must previously connect to the frost near them, fortifying their bond with the element as an extension of their own self over one emote. The following two emotes consist of the same witch drawing the energy of their curse, coalescing across the body and ultimately manifesting it inside the user’s throat. At this point, the song is ready to be sung and the witch may do so within one emote, constituting a total of four.

Connection → Drawing energy → Coalescing said energy and manifesting it at the throat → Casting of the spell

The chosen target then begins to freeze, starting at the feet and progressively worsening over the entirety of their body until the head is reached and, too, enclosed with ice. During this period they are unable to hear from inside, or be heard from outside, and a minimum of two emotes must be spent to wriggle inside the freezing ensemble to break free- otherwise the ice will melt and automatically liberate the same target within four emotes.

During events, up to five fjarriagua (excluding the user of this ability) may link together and combine their songs for the casting witch to amplify the range and effects of her cries.

In the occasion that a group of fjarriagua is given permission to utilise this ability during an event, they may attempt to cast the same spell over the span of six emotes- the first two being the rest of witches connecting with the actual user that owns this ability. This version of the hex is capable of freezing event-played targets: up to one creature of great magnitude, or a decent horde of warriors.

Connection → Drawing energy → Reaching out to nearby witches → Establishing bond with said witches → Coalescing said energy and manifesting it at the throat → Casting of the spell

The user of this ability is expected to roleplay the majority of these emotes, especially connection and casting. Given that the host of the event must provide consent, they may respond as they wish to the effects of the spell, and can opt to ignore/lessen its effects if applicable to the situation.

    Kriemhild’s Song:

✕ Fjarriagua can manifest a hex in the form of a song, freezing over up to one singular target (smaller and weaker than an Olog) over four continuous emotes.

✕ Targets cannot suffocate or be crushed by the pressure of the ice immobilising them- they are simply locked in place, unable to hear or be heard. Attacking the frozen target can break them free over two continuous emotes using iron tools.

✕ During events, the spell may exert whatever effects as permitted by the host- though explicitly requires the presence of six fjarrigua, including the owner of this spell.

✕ After four emotes of being locked in ice, the said melts away and automatically liberates the target with nothing more than a chill.

✕ Witches may not move during the casting of this spell to maintain concentration, and they must have clear view of their target at all times (limited to the range of #s).

✕ Targets may attempt to halt the freezing, musical ensemble through wearing wax earplugs, escaping the witch’s line-of-sight, or slicing the witch’s throat.

✕ Ordinary boons such as an Altar’s empowering effects cannot bolster the strength of this spell if applicable in any way whatsoever.

    Penance

Using this spell imposes a tax on the user’s health, sanity and magical affinity. This is further detailed under the explanation of the effects, however it is worth noting that these drawbacks come about from the mere exertion of this ability despite being depicted otherwise in a cultural style:

Casting this spell once per combative encounter affects the user’s bodily health, tiring them out and forming cracks (larger if said user is a frost mother) across their frozen skin. This disables them from engaging into melee combat for the rest of the encounter after the spell has been cast, also requiring them to tend to their wounds through the respective sabbath afterward.

Casting this spell twice per combative encounter worsens the mental effects of the user, dominating their mind with extreme senses of anxiety, dread and paranoia. This disorients the witch after the spell has been cast and thus the accuracy of her attacks is non-existent, also requiring them to either feed on fresh victims and/or communicate with her respective coven (as this alleviates their insanity).

Casting this spell thrice per combative encounter determines a great toll on the user’s ability to practise frost witchcraft for the following out-of-character month, unable to make use of this ability or any other under fjarriagua lore for this duration. This must be marked upon the user’s Creature Application.

    Penance:

✕ This ability can be used three times per combative (or event) encounter. Its first usage disables the witch from participating in melee combat following the casting of the spell, and the second disorients her, unabling her from landing any attacks or projectiles while the last and third usage locks the witch out of her magic for one out-of-character month.

✕ Injuries sustained by the usage of this ability must be restored through the Sabbath of Healing/Restoration, being labeled as Cuts for ordinary Fjarriagua and Lacerations for Mother Fjarriagua.

✕ Witches may PK to over-usage of this ability as an aesthetic resource- not at all enforced.

✕ During events, the effects are shared between the participating witches exactly as they are written above.

✕ Uses of this spell must be recorded by the player for the Story Team should the need arise.

✕ Witches who have used this ability three times per combative encounter must inform the Story Team, so that such may be marked upon their Creature Application.

    Transference

The owner of this spell can pass it down onto other fjarriagua by utilising a piece of Cursed Ice as a medium, materialising the physical form of this song as a stream of translucent though icy waves of sound, which runs through the tool and forces itself within the receiving witch in the process.

At this point, the former owner would be unable to use the spell, whilst the newer has now access to such in totality.

In order to transfer this spell from one to another, the current owner and/or user, and the other frost witch that they are passing it down onto, must previously connect to the frost near them over one emote. At this point, the current owner/user draws on their inner energy, retrieving the song from their very curse and coalescing it within the throat, at which it is liberated as any other breath of air over the following three emotes.

The song, now physical, travels through the tool of Cursed Ice (which may be anything) and seeps into the other witch, unlocking their capacity to start using this spell right away upon the fourth and fifth emotes.

Connection on both sides → Current user draws energy → Extracts the song and materialises it → Forces the song through the ice tool and into the other user → Transference is complete.

    Transference:

✕ Transferring this ability from one witch to another can only be done out of combat and such must be accordingly documented by the Story Team under this same submission.

✕ Only fjarriagua can transfer and/or receive this spell, and only one fjarriagua may own it at the same time.

✕ The tool made out of Cursed Ice can be anything, i.e: a mirror, or knife.

✕ Transference requires the out-of-character consent from the receiving party, as they will be subject to a permanent death as per Penance. Once transferred, it is impossible to return the spell to its previous owner.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

This spell is made through the Sabbath of Creation under the currently accepted lore of the Fjarriagua, consisting in up to three different frost witches hunting down either a living sacrifice or the freshly slain corpse of a descendant male. Following the retrieval of this sacrifice, each witch surrounds Kerry-Anne, dismembering one by one the body that has been obtained to place the remains around the mentioned witch. After then, Undine and Eve of Tybur, and whoever additional witch, channel their energy through the relic described below (Gelid Mirror Shard) and thus make the altar that is being utilised react to the magick, at which the sacrifice is consumed and recycled into power- power that is then moulded and given form by Kerry-Anne as a freezing, musical ensemble; a nefarious hex.

It is worth noting that the location where this ritual takes place is the icy altar depicted in an image below, monitored and approved by SquakHawk.

    Kriemhild’s Gift

This spell is granted by the means of frost witchcraft, which is rather freeform and at the discretion of the player when it comes to its usage. By recurring to the curse-crafting aspect of the lore, we have intended to combine the concept of ice manipulation (which is essential in the frost witch) and the casting of dark curses through the form of a song (which is actually a shriek that grows in intensity, pitch and tone as it is progressively sung), thus why the effects of the ability are simply put as a freezing spell.

    Penance

As a way to balance the usage of this ability, we have decided to incorporate this mechanic.

For this reason, the body deteriorates after excessive usage, and so does the mind and the user’s ability to channel frost magic.

    Transference

Whilst there is no defined aspect of frost witchcraft that permits this facet of the ability, we believe that it would be an interesting gist and could open up to storylines cemented on generational cultures.

N/A, as it is a spell.

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

    Kriemhild’s Gift:

Fjarriagua who know of this spell are bestowed with vastless power given its antiquity. Through the application of rather complex techniques for spellcasting, frost witches unlock one of the many gifts from the first witch: Kriemhild, as pieces of dark, curse-crafting work.

This spell, put in simple words, allows the witch to use their powers to cast a nefarious hex. One singular chosen target can be affected by this harrowing ability, which is similar to the scream of a banshee spirit growing louder and more erratic in key, pitch and tone. This same curse is tied with the ability of the fjarriagua to manipulate ice and snow, for it manifests onto the selected target in the form of a freezing musical ensemble.

That is to say, witches using this spell (or song) can entrap their chosen target in an icy prison, freezing their bodies over so long as they are not of an Olog’s size and strength in combative or otherwise casual settings:

In order to cast this spell, the casting frost witch must previously connect to the frost near them, fortifying their bond with the element as an extension of their own self. At this point, energy is drawn from within, coalesced across the body and then manifested inside the user’s throat, at which it is cast on the realm as a haunting shriek, growing in intensity and becoming more erratic in pitch and tone as it is sung.

I.e; Connection → Drawing energy → Coalescing this energy -> Manifesting it at the throat -> Casting of the spell

The chosen target then begins to freeze over, starting at the feet and progressively worsening over the entirety of their body until the head is reached and, too, enclosed with ice.

However, fjarriagua can employ this spell on targets greater than an Olog’s proportions during events by uniting forces with up to five other fjarriagua. This union of power can vary in two defined purposes: freezing over up to one target of great magnitude or small hordes.

    Penance:

Using this spell imposes a tax on the user’s health, sanity and magical affinity. This is further detailed under the explanation of the effects, however it is worth noting that these drawbacks come about from the mere exertion of this ability despite being depicted otherwise in a cultural style.

Witches can only make use of this ability under extreme duress given that it is considered as a last resort for either hunting prey, defending fellow witches or escaping from battle. That is to say, this ability may only be used once per encounter without any deteriorating consequences. Overriding this amount activates the following ailments on the casting witch:

Having cast this spell more than once per combative encounter affects the user’s bodily health, tiring them out and forming cracks across their frozen skin. This halves their movement and leaves them rather lethargic, unable to engage in melee confrontation.

Having cast this spell more than twice per combative encounter imposes on the user’s thoughts a sense of dread, feeling as though they were being watched. This increases the user’s baseline anxiety and paranoia, leading them to think that there may be potential danger coming their way. Aside from these traits, users are also given dream-based hallucinations of a frozen, ominous witch singing amidst vastless snow.

Having cast this spell more than thrice per combative encounter determines a great toll on the ability of the user to practise frost witchcraft for the following out-of-character month, unable to make use of this ability for the stated duration.

During events, the amount of times that this spell can be cast is dependent on the consent and wishes of the host. But, overriding a reasonable amount will still and inevitably activate the third effect as explained above.

    Transference:

The owner of this spell can pass it down onto other fjarriagua by utilising a piece of Cursed Ice as a medium, materialising the physical form of this song as a stream of translucent though icy waves of sound, which runs through the tool and forces itself within the receiving witch in the process.

At this point, the former owner would be unable to use the spell, whilst the newer has now access to such in totality.

I.e; Connection on both sides → Current user draws energy → Extracts the song and materialises it → Forces the song through the ice tool and into the other user → Transference is complete.

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

    - Kriemhild’s Gift:

✕ Witches can manifest a curse in the form of a song, freezing over up to one chosen target over five emotes.

✕ Targets cannot be suffocated or crushed by the pressure of the ice immobilising them; they are simply locked in place.

✕ The chosen target cannot be larger than an Olog in size or strength outside of events, superior creatures being able to break free with ease. Freezing targets of great size during events can only be done by six fjarriagua (including the owner/user of the spell) working together, following the same emote count as the first variant.

✕ Witches may move normally whilst casting this spell, though their focus must be entirely on this and nothing else.

✕ Witches can freeze targets as long as they are able to see them given that this implies the target being able to hear the song. However, not being able to hear it doesn't equal not being affected as this spell works by freezing over those who the user is looking at from whatever distance.

✕ In casual settings, frozen targets can break free after four emotes, at which the ice melts down and sets them free. Otherwise, frozen targets during events must break out of their imprisonment by their own accord.

    - Penance:

✕ Witches suffer from bodily, mental and spellcasting drawbacks from using this ability more than once per encounter.

✕ Casting the spell twice halves the movement speed of the witch, whilst casting it twice and thrice would impose hallucinations on her mind and impede her from utilising this spell within the following out-of-character month. These hallucinations only happen while sleeping.

✕ Overriding the aforementioned amounts can result in extreme exhaustion from the witch, likely ending up as a prolonged inability to use frost magic or in extreme cases permanent death (similar to fire evocationists conjuring white flame).

✕ This mechanic is also applied to whatever additional witches may combine forces with the owner/user of the spell, mostly happening during events.

    - Transference:

✕ Transferring this ability from one witch to another is an out-of-combat process and it must be accordingly documented by the Story Team, henceforth players ought to update the team of these occurrences.

✕ It is impossible to transfer this spell to anything other than a fellow frost witch and only one person is capable of accessing this spell at the same time, meaning that it has to be transferred to other witches for them to use it.

✕ The tool made out of Cursed Ice can be anything, from a mirror to a knife, etc.

✕ The act of Transference requires consent from the receiving side, as they will be subject to a potential PK due to overuse of this spell. Once transferred, it is not possible to return the spell to its former owner.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

    Penance:

As a way to balance the usage of this ability, we have decided to incorporate this mechanic and while it is mostly insignificant in the long-term, it is possible for the user to permanently lose access to the spell (or alternatively die) if they have overexerted the amount of uses listed earlier.

For this reason, the body deteriorates after excessive usage, and so does the mind and the user’s ability to channel frost magic.

    Transference:

Whilst there is no defined aspect of frost witchcraft that permits this facet of the ability, we believe that it would be an interesting gist and could open up to storylines cemented on generational cultures.

Aside from these components, we intend to use, aside from recurring to the sabbath of creation, the following item and altar as conduits to heighten our frost magic, and thus become able to create this spell and its respective effects:

[!] An envelop hardly sealed by red-velvet wax is made and copied numerous times, thus distributed across the table boards of the Duchy of Balian and the Kingdom of Oren, and any who may wish to read its contents.

    It read as follows:

    Dear House de Rosius,

Let it be known that your truth is not so legitimate as you seem to portray it and let it be known that it was your family who dwindled the preservation and quality of our line.

Whilst my mother – may she rest in peace – was an odd woman of rare tendencies, she ensured that her legacy would perseverate through me, and it was her who finally imparted justice in this family. My grandfather's efforts – may he also rest in peace – were his and his alone after the death of his brother, Valent. Baron Otis de Rosius and Baroness Claude de Rosius nèe-frans were the ones to uphold the prestige of the peerage, and it is only sensible that the true Baroness Hera de Rosius inherits the fruits sown for her rightful harvest. And, she made sure to spare me no detail.

It was your cowardice, your lack of confrontation, that sunk the line of de Rosius in a desperate state. Whilst your side of the family prioritized slaving away for an Emperor that deserved no worship or support and birthing left and right without a possible way to guarantee the legitimacy or quality of life of these children, my mother - Hera - chose to maintain the verity of our peerage, and thanks to her, we are now able to reside within the Kingdom with as much – if not more – luxury than any you may have experienced before.

Perhaps it was madness that drove my mother, yet I find truth in her words and actions. And perhaps it was a mistake to heed under the incessant pledge of my half-brother – I realize now that even in death, you will never be able to let her go.

And it is for this reason that we are no longer your family – no longer are we de Rosius, but Endor

[!] At the very end of the missive was printed a signature, written by Roxana Claude of Endor.
