  1. Apok

    Apok2020

Apok was born Giles Smith to parents Dawn and Geoffrey Smith who raised him for his early childhood. He was a bright, joyful child, charming and endearing. At 12 years of age, around the time of the signing of the Highland Realm & Fenn NAP of 1766, sickness and poverty overtook both of his parents. Custody of Giles was given to several families, but Giles grew more and more distant to those around him with each passing day. The only person whose relationship did not deteriorate with Giles, was Alan, a childhood friend that stuck by him during the darker moments. As the boys grew older, Alan turned to light-theft and burglary to survive, and in turn, so did Giles. By 18 years-of-age, Giles and Alan’s flexible morality brought them into proximity to the seedier sides of society and had become a positive reason to acquire their services. Over the years, pick pocketing evolved into heists, robbing turned into treasure hunting. As Giles turned 29 years old, he and Alan were finding work in and around the city of Sutica, and were hired by a figure known as Gomez to break into a temple to loot its belongings. The duo long-searched the desert to find the holy site hidden in the dunes. Night set in as they dug their way inside while the ominous sounds of rattling and shuffling could be heard within. As the sanctum’s wall was breached, Alan carefully disarmed a trap and leapt for the closest, dimly lit chest. Giles watched as 2 figures fell from a chamber above and attacked. In the fury of the battle, the torch was dropped and ignited the disarmed trap. The room exploded and sand caved in, sealing away Alan. Giles wakened hours later, heavily injured and struggled to dig his way back to his friend, only to pass out once more. The next time Giles woke, he was no longer in the desert, Alan was nowhere to be found. His memory of his life was fractured. A local had found Giles and nursed him back to health. On regaining his strength, Giles promised to repay the favor and left. He would no longer go by his former name, instead referring to himself as Apok.
