Born to a relatively well-off family in the city of Helena, Jasper has known nothing but a life of relative safety and comfort. As a young child, he grew up listening to stories of great heroes who he looked up to greatly. However, nothing was more influential to his life than his father, a veteran of the War of Two Emperors. He used to fall asleep as his mother told stories of his father’s great exploits and exceptional bravery, most notably during the siege of Helena. Not only was his father a great soldier, but he was also a great father with a good sense of humor. Every time his father returned from deployments, Jasper never lacked bonding time with him, causing Jasper to further glorify him. Another significant figure in Jasper’s life was Cygne, his childhood best friend. Being the complete opposite of Jasper and having a much rougher life, she taught him how to be more easygoing and enjoy life. As children she helped him get into a lot of trouble together, climbing things they shouldn’t and shoplifting food whenever they were hungry. However, without her and her “life lessons”, he would have ended up as nothing but a stuck-up and entitled jerk. With the death of his father in 1783 during a skirmish against raiders, Jasper made the decision to enlist in the ISA and continue his family’s service to the Empire.
