Balin was born in the south-east region of the Kingdom of Urguan. While his father, Dwalin, teached him in smithing of various objects, from swords to axes, his uncle teached him in fighting. After some years, Glóin (his uncle), moved out to work again as a mercenary this time in an army from Utak Ireheart. Following he spent more time with his mother and looking after his sick brother that had leukemia. But after the birth of his sister "Aria" she died. His father got a deep addiction to alcohol and from then he had to care about his brother and sister. Firstly he stole food on markets and begged for money, but from his first big score he got himself a little forge where he could work legally. Following of a big fire at his hometown where his both sister and brother died in the flames Balin started to wander around the grand Kingdom and see the world.
