At a young age, Lance was raised under the belief of The Church of Axes. The church's teachings were about unity through brotherhood and sisterhood. The Church was known to be considered the common humanoid church. They would have preachers preach about the corruption of the rich; that they have to unify under one banner to overpower those who abuse their power. The church had overthrown those in power who abused their power; setting the people free from "the tyranny of the rich." Through the teachings of unity from the church, he has learned to trust those who share the same belief as him. As the son of a blacksmith, he would always provide tools, weapons, and armors to the church. He was taught by his father that "iron and steel never betrays you. They are honest and upfront with your craft. The ores will tell you where you failed." Through this teaching, along with the teachings of the church, Lance's belief of the church's unity is due to the trust of the church. He firmly believed that the church can gain the trust of many people, and through that belief, he followed the church. At the mature age, he enlisted into the church as a knight to further assist the church. His strength from being a blacksmith, and his loyalty to the church made him a perfect knight for the church. He would become the church's field equipment repair specialist while crusading against the rich along side his "brothers and sisters." During his time as a knight, he fell in love with a woman named Ruxala, a village farmer girl. As his platoon was stationed at the village of Ach, he would routinely visit Ruxala and assisted her with her duties. After a few years, the two decided to get married, and soon Ruxala was confirmed pregnant. After 4 months of pregnancy, The Church of Axes has ordered the platoon of crusaders to burn, pillage, and crucify the village. Lance was taken back and pleaded to reconsider, but to no avail. The platoon did what they were told as Lance stood in disbelief and helpless. The crusaders crucified the villagers, including Ruxala, and left them to die as they began to pack up. Lance became catatonic and was considered a deserter to the cause. With nowhere to return to, and no one to trust, he stripped himself of any remnants of The Church of Axes, and wondered aimlessly to search for meaning to life. Eventually, he boarded a boat that lead to Almaris, a land that is known to have no affiliation with the church. He had heard of an empire declaring a kingdom independent, and had hoped to see if the ones in power are also benevolent; hoping to disprove The Church of Axes' beliefs.
