Wei was born to simple, humble farmers, who worked tirelessly to provide for the people of Ai-Zhu. They owned a decent sized farm, providing for the people with rice and other crop. His mother and father were simple, hardy people, who lived honorably and always off of their own handywork. While they ate well, lived good and went without much need, they were quite poor, very rarely making profit from their crop. Wei's father would hoard away any spare coin, always dreaming of the day he could open his own tea shop or tavern. His wife often found the idea quite impossible, but it brought him great joy, so she humored him. Wei enjoyed his farm life childhood. Since he was a young boy, he was always active, and found pleasure in helping with the farm work, much to his parents joy. He would spend short periods of time socializing with other farm children, but never beyond that, staying in the small farm life bubble he found himself in, and at the time, enjoyed it. As Wei grew to a young adolescent, he would find himself in incredible shape, the daily grind of farm work requiring full physical peak. But with so much experience at that point, he no longer had much challenge, and the once fun, and difficult chores turned into a bore. Wei needed more. --- One evening, after a particularly difficult few months, a commoner thief who had stooped to raiding farms far from the eye of local authorities, found himself at Wei's family farm. Assuming it was easy pickings, he would swipe some sacks of rice and carry them on his back, and fled into the back fields. Stumbling into Wei who was heading home, the thief would attempt to threaten Wei, and while Wei was scared by the man, he couldn't allow him to pass. The two scuffled, and Wei found himself able to easily overpower the man, and alert the local authorities. The rush Wei found in fighting was unmatched, and he quickly began to practice sparring with the local teens. While Wei never threw his lot with the usual troublemakers, he was often in their company, as he struggled to find good partners to learn from. As Wei reached adulthood he had become known among the community as somewhat of an oddity. He was well liked, as he always helped others, and was friendly with his fellow man, but he had began a training ritual he did daily that most found silly at best. Learning all he could about the martial arts, Wei would do daily meditations and training, practicing form, technique, strength and the like. He practiced with long sturdy sticks and a mock wooden sword, obsessed with honing his ability. Wei found the practice deeply meditative, enjoying it to his core, and he wanted to be able to use it to stop those who would harm the innocent. One day, while Wei meditated outside his family fields, he would be approached by a man wearing only robes, with little belongings. He claimed himself a Wilven Sanctuary Monk, traveling all the way from the Cloud Temple to help those in need. Impressed with the young commoners dedication, he asked him of his intentions for meditating. Wei would explain his desires to hone his body, mind and spirit to strengthen himself and to explore his own potential, a feeling deep inside stirring him forth. The nameless monk released a deep, content chuckle, smiling down at the young man. Gesturing towards distant lands in the horizon, he would suggest that perhaps his true potential must be found through a more active search, and that the monastery of Yong Ping City may have the answers he seeks. With that the man continued on his journey just as fast as he had came, his parting words encouraging Wei to continue to focus on his inner energies. Wei would reflect on this monks words, unable to forget, and within a week of his visit, he would decide to pack the little food and water they could spare, and set off for the City, bidding farewell to his family and driven to explore his calling.
