Griffo was born into a family of chefs and brewers. He was constantly surrounded by them so naturally he picked up an affinity to the art. His father ran a successful tavern and his upbringing was peaceful and well provided for. Griffo spent most of his days learning how to cook and brew from his father and learned how to play the lute from his mother. Griffo's mother also wanted her son to be well educated so she forced him to read books such as A History Of Haflings by Petyr Brandybuck so that way he could learn more about his peoples history. One day his father fired one of their previous employees and the vengeful person robbed and burnt down the tavern. After this Griffo lived in poverty and was lucky to get any food at all. After his parents passed he decided he would not waste his life in poverty and would try to use his knowledge to try and resurrect his families former glory.
