  2. THE LUCIENSBURG CITY WATCH As of the 11th of Owyn’s Light, 2A29 FERTE MANUS CERTAS “Strike with a sure hand.” The Luciensburg City Watch stands as the official enlisted defense organization in Luciensburg, being a more concerted entity than the citizens’ militia. The Watch is responsible for upholding the laws and prosperity of Luciensburg. What type of troubles the Watch faces will vary upon every day; but most common will be thieves, brigands and inhuman beasts. The Watch reports directly to the Burgomaster and City Council. The Watch consists of free individuals who have enlisted for various reasons, but with the end goal of making Luciensburg and its surrounding lands safe and prosperous. All members of the Watch are paid for their hard work on a two-year basis ((two weeks)). The Duties of the City Watch for the City of Saint Lucien shall be as follows: - Maintain the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the Citizens of Luciensburg. - Uphold the laws of the City within its walls. - Patrol the city at regular intervals. - Man the gate house at regular hours. - Serve as the City’s Militia in times wherein the city itself is in danger, whether internally or externally. - Else, the City Watch exists as a purely defensive entity within the walls. HIERARCHY CAPTAIN of the WATCH - The Captain is the head of the Watch, assuming most of the administrative duties of the organization which have not already been delegated, such as the promotion of newer officers. The Captain is additionally charged with the responsibility of defending Luciensburg from both from external and internal threats DEPUTY of the WATCH - Second to the Captain, the Deputy is installed alongside the Captain; with their purpose being to assume the role of Captain in the absence of the Captain. Additionally, they are next-in-line should the Captain fall or otherwise leave his station. WATCHMAN - Watchmen are the bread and butter of the City's defense force, and will comprise nearly the entirety of the City Watch. Watchmen are those who have received basic training and now are ready to patrol the streets of the City and defend her walls. Most younger Watchmen will be accompanied by another Watchman in a battle-buddy system. RECRUIT - The recruits are the freshest the watch has to offer, often never having held a spear or sword in their life. Note: Other ranks such as Lieutenant, Sergeant, and Citizen at Arms are also part of the hierarchy-- though will be filled only as needed and as the Watch acquires more members. WHAT WE OFFER - Once being accepted to the watch, you will be given a bed to sleep on, three meals a day and equipment to defend oneself with. - You will be recognized by merit and not by your blood status, allowing you to rise through the ranks as any other member of the gentry. - You will be trained in how to defend yourself and combat the many threats you will face in the field. -You will be given ample opportunity to explore the City and the surrounding lands in a way no others will experience. - You will be paid for your services to the City of Luciensburg, with bonuses being achievable through exemplary service. BONUSES ------- Upon completion of a 4-year enlistment contract. Bonuses will be given out by the Council and Captain. These include, but are not limited to: - The right to own Property within the City. - Rent reduction when purchasing Property within the City (varies depending on rank and station). - Pay for completion of a contract, and the offer of bonuses for reenlisting (varies depending on rank and station). - Eventually, the ability to purchase Land beyond the City's walls. - Additional bonuses may present themselves at any time at the discretion of the Council and Captain. UNIFORM Every fresh recruit is issued a pristine set of armor and weapons, presented by the City. The recruit will learn how to maintain and utilize their equipment as needed. The Watch is equipped in gambesons, brigandine and chainmail, allotted depending upon the Watchman's prowess and preference. The colors of the uniform vary, but tend to be red and green with hints of white, favoring protection over flamboyant armor and color. Variants of the City Watch uniform ENLISTMENT Applicants to the Watch must refer themselves to any member of the Luciensburg Council, or Watch Captain Albanus. Written applications may be sent by bird, courier or mail to your nearest recruitment office. The criteria for enlistment is as such; be at least fifteen years old. In a fair physical and mental condition. Applicants who are maimed or of Kharajyr descent will not be considered for the watch. The minimum Enlistment Period is 4 years ((4 weeks)) to receive the benefits outlined in the Enlistment Contract. Respond to this posting and the City will be in touch with you.
