Marvin Woodsman was born in a low-class family in the Kingdom of Haense. Marvin comes from a lineage of elite hunters, but due to the actions of one of his ancestors, Marvin's family became bound to an aristocratic family in the kingdom. His family was forced to hunt and provide food for the aristocratic family in return for the Woodsmans' lives. Marvin was trained as a hunter and tracker by his father Jarvin Woodsman. In his early teen years, Marvin had become a skilled hunter and tracker. On one of his solo hunts, he encountered a large bear. Marvin missed his chance to kill the bear and instead of being the hunter, he became the hunted. The large bear chased him across the forests, until Marvin was cornered. The bear attacked Marvin, biting off half of Marvin's right hand. Marvin yelled in pain as he noticed the blood gushing out of his hand. Marvin began to cry while constantly reciting prayers he learned from the Church of Canon. A nearby Elvish Mage heard the loud cries of Marvin and rushed to his rescue. The mage used a magical spell to manipulate the bear and saved Marvin's life. The Elf gave Marvin a herb from her carrying bag for Marvin's bloody hand and wished him well before continuing on her journey. Fascinated by the Elf's magical powers, Marvin began imagining himself as a magician that controls the animals and plants. That day, he returned to the aristocrats with only two rabbits and an injured right hand. Angered by the lack of animals Marvin brought, the aristocrats threatened to execute him. With an injured right hand, Marvin had many more failed attempts. One day, on his way back to the kingdom, Marvin decided to run away from Haense. Through his fear of execution, he fled to a nearby kingdom. As he arrived there, he began to search for a School of Magic.
