You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” As his eyes meet with hers a wave of pettiness rises across him, "What are you, some fortune telling old witch", he notes her gesturing and decides to sit against his better judgment. "Hmm, my story", he says, as his thoughts swirl in a dazzling blur. His thoughts like stray cats, desperate to flee from him. He composes himself. "My story...".
"I was born to a woman who was my mother but a man that was not my father, I was a bastard a gift worse then death for children born in my town. Luckily my father was merciful and raised me till I was 12 then sent me off to fend for myself. I tried getting some pot jobs for a while but nowhere wanted to hire a 12 year old kid, so I found my self looking for work elsewhere, that lead me to the docks, where a ship in need of a sweeper boy became my only option. Little did I know that ship belong to the Saltborns, a small pirate group that pillaged the local area. I sailed with them for years, they where filth, Rapists, Murderers, I despised the lot of them. So when the opportunity arose, a night when we were set to sail for a new continent I new it was the only way for me to end things. After so many years these monsters had begun to trust me so it was a surprise when I slit their captains throat in his sleep. I took out the navigator and helmsman too before they caught on it was me. I was locked in the brig, but a ship without essential member is nothing more than powder keg waiting to explode. The same night I was shoved in the brig, was the same as one of the most ferocious storms in history, breaking the ship in two, I was freed if not into the cold dark depths of the ocean, but anywhere was better than a place with those men. When I awoke after the storm I found my self on a beach, the beach of this new continent."
