Emrakul was born in the small slums just outside the border of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and was an only child of Guldir and Lestin Nightshade. Both Guldir and Lestin were extremely poor and had little to no money at all. This make early life difficult for Emrakul and both his parents died of disease when he was only 12 years of age. After his parents death, he was taken in by his uncle and his 2 cousins and was taught blacksmithing and about how the market worked. After 6 years of living with his uncle, both his cousins passed away from a disease which made Emrakul hate poverty and everything that comes along with it. At the age of 20 Emrakul set off to the Grand City of Urguan to fulfill his dream of becoming rich.
