"It is not death a man should fear, but to never begin to live." (Original quote by Marcus Aurelius) Agmundr (almost silent "r") is a stoic, both in stature and in mind, a product of a tough and unforgiving world. He is a warrior philospher and a skilled smith and engineer by trade, showing off his works on the battlefield with every oppertunity. Despite what common first impressions may label him as, Agmundr is far from heartless; He just has a different way to view the world! He always looks calm - even under stressfull and dangerous situations, and he rarely changes his perceived mental state whether if something good or bad happens. Despite being a philosopher and an aspiring orator, Agmundr values action over words. This is often reflected in his habit of talking in short laconic sentences, which are often filled with clear, though unsaid extra meanings. This allows him to tell people about something, without the need of using many words, which would otherwise have quickly fallen on deaf ears. However, it also makes room for misinterpretations and mis-use of his words by those who oppose him. At an age of 28, Agmundr's greatest dream is his greatest fear: He doesn't feel he have started to live a meaningful and purposeful life yet, still searching for love amidst what he percieves as "the many evils of the world". Agmundr wants to be of positive effect to those he believe in and he is still not convinced that his life is worth continuing on living without love or a deeper personal meaning to his particular existence. Because of this, Agmundr has set his mind on one single goal; to find and lead his people to greatness - and thus he is always looking for an oppertunity to prove himself as a capable leader. Early life: Agmundr grew up mostly alone with his family in a small village far from the nearest big dwarven city, which were at the time the Under-Realm of Urguan, where he learned most of his core personal values, though many of his thoughts and views on the world would be gained later through experience over the years. Growing up without kids his age, would prove to become a struggle for him later in life, as he developed social skills very late, however, it only made his will to improve stronger. Because his father was part of the cave dwarf clan of Urguan - Starbreaker - he was naturally destined to learn the skills of the forge and smiths, starting from his father and father before him. When he grew old enough, Agmundr moved to the city of Urguan to study the way of the forge by other than his close family. Despite his peculiar looks for a cave dwarf, he didn't face too much of struggles because of this - apart from the rare tease - as the dwarven race are used to a wide variety of looks, and dwarves that didn't know him personally would often mistake him for a mountain dwarf anyway and simply not care to ask closely about his ancestry or clan status. His father was a cave-dwarf, however his mother was most probably originally decendant of mountain dwarves, due to her light hair and blue eyes, which Agmundr seems to have inherited from her. Both his parents seems to have been unusual tall for their race, though not sacrificing strength in any meaningful degree as the extra height was often useful in a fight by itself, though he may not have 'looked' as "wide" as some dwarves do. The dwarf behind the name: Agmundr Fairbeard has an unusual hair-color, almost dark-blond, opposed to the more common black or dark hair tones of the cave dwarves, though this is not directly the reason for his name. He was first known by another name, "Fairhair", which was first given to him when he had long hair and no beard, combined with his unusual height it made him look almost a bit elvish in his youth, despite having no such ancestry. When he joined in on his first battle, which was later to be known as the "Battle of Storm's Crossing", he had already started to grow a fairly impressive beard, though the other dwarves questioned his ability to fight in the dwarven lines, seeing the color of his hair and remembering his name, some called him "unfit" for the rigors of combat, as elves were commonly believed to be too weak to fight in such close heavy infantry formations as the dwarves. However, he still joined to fight in the 4th rank from the front in the battle at the dwarven left flank. After the left flank fell victim to an unforseen charge by an ambushing orc contingent, the dwarven commander of the left flank was quickly struck down as he tried to shift the dwarven lines to meet them front-to-front. Seeing their local leadership fall, and believed dead, the morale of the dwarves began to waver and would probably have continued into a rout if nothing was done quickly. It was at this moment of the battle that Agmundr "Fairhair", who had been pushed towards the middle of the 4th rank, stood up and began to squize himself between the others towards the front line, passing the 3rd and 2nd rank on the way, who was shaken, but apart from this had actually not suffered that many casualties. He reached the front line and filled in the one of the holes that began to emerge in the hastingly created shieldwall and locked shields with the rest of the dwarves. Seeing this, the dwarven pride began to boil in their hearts and they were rallied one-by-one by the simple fact that they would "not allow an 'elf' to get the better of them: something like that would never be forgotten!" some later said. This came to the surprise of the orcs, who excpected a rout and was not prepared for a long hand-to-hand engagement with the dwarven heavy infantry, and after a long fight, the dwarven left flank won their side of the battlefield which allowed them to surround the enemy center and win the day. Agmundr was dubbed "Fairbeard" shortly thereafter. Further explaination of the meaning of the name: For dwarves, having the word "beard" in their name is both very common and also considered very admirable. "Hair", on the other hand, has meanings tied to 'elves' as they tend to have long hair and take great care of it, and is generally considered weak. Changing name from "Fairhair" to "Fairbeard" declares he has been accepted as a true 'dwarf'. This is not in itself a huge feat, as most dwarves are in fact born a 'dwarf', but it ties to Fairbeard's story and his journey to change the stubborn hearts of the dwarves.
