Barnaby grew up in Freeport, learning the cooking trade from his father, Alfred Willows (his family all had a pension for keeping up "smart" demeanours and businesses, including smart names). his father mostly dealt with passing pirates and bandits, taking a lot of pride in his restaurant, the Rusty Anchor. Looking back, he probably shouldn't have been so "outgoing". One day, when Barnaby was 14, he came back from a run to the herbalists to see the building engulfed in fire. He tried run inside, but he was held back, watching it crumble in only a few minutes. After that, the crew picked him up, having been a regular of his father's food. Ever since (about 18 years) he has been traveling with them, splitting off together with Micah and Josephus. For the past two weeks I have been gathering ingredients while Joe has been looking for shelter.
