Carrot was a name given to a nameless youth. For the cartel that rounded him up from the other orphaned Redenford slum kids had nothing else to call him. They need labor and a way to differentiate him, so the young kid became Carrot. They brought him to a dingy room with other kids and force them to cut and dilute drugs and package them. Those who succeeded were fed and housed, while those who didn't were never seen again. This was hard and long work, with many couldn't keep up and so many disappeared. Only a few managed to keep up Carrot included, as well as an albino kid nicknamed Hare due to his white hair and red eyes. Carrot and Hare became quick friends for hare became an elder brother figure for Carrot. Covering for his mistakes and giving his food rations when Carrot underperformed. hare was the sole reason that the Soap maker of the cartel was interested in him. For while Hare was daring and rebellious, Carrot was observant and smart. For when Hare decided that they should drug the guards and escape, it was Carrot who concocted the drug based off of guess work and memory. While the concoction worked, the plan did not. They were quickly captured and imprisoned. They were to be sentenced to fighting pits, where the betting rings were at. But the soap maker decided to take Carrot instead. The aging man commonly called old willow by the other kids was intrigued by the youth's ability to create an concoction to knock out a grown man with only guess work and smuggled materials. Carrot was taken back to the assembly line while hare was sent to the pits, to fight for others amusements. Carrot was suspicious of the old man, and nearly starved himself due to not trusting any of the food he gave him. But the man just wanted someone to pass his trade to, while being a soap maker, he was originally an apothecary. Selling tincture and vials to the poor, but he was a poor betting man. Racking up debt with the cartel. He became a soap maker to pay off his debt to the cartel, but he hated of his work and the effects it had. So he attempted to teach Carrot his trade, to give him the tools to live a better life. Old Willow became a father to Carrot, distancing him from most of the cartel work. Carrot learned basic medicine and physiology from him and live a relatively comfortable life compared to his days within the assembly lines. A few years passed like this, but old Willow had his vices. His debt kept growing and growing to the point where the cartel could accept it. They came to collect as the sun began to set, Old Willow saw them before they came. He sent Carrot out to the stables with a written note and a pouch of coins. He told willow not to read the note and to find a man by the name of Henry Oxenlin. Carrot was to give the note to him. Willow hurriedly sent carrot out without telling him the current situation. As carrot left he could of sworn he heard the voice of Hare, but he threw it out and continued on his task, unaware of the current situation. As Carrot walked down the streets a sense of unease swept down his back, as he saw squad of guards rush past him, quickly followed by the fire brigade. he looked back to see a plume of smoke, it was coming from the direction of old Willow's house. he ignored it, Willow's task came first, curiosity second. As he walked towards the stables the Smoke dissipated, slowly disappearing from Carrot's mind. He quickly found Henry from asking around, Henry was a caravan leader and was resupplying for another trip. Carrot found the man and explained his task, the elderly gent smirk at the young kid's enthusiasm. The smirk slowly dissipated as he read the contents of the note. He quickly rounded the members of the caravan that was with him and told the others to pack up. He grabbed the young teen by the arm and told him that they were leaving. The kid protested, saying he couldn't leave Old Willow. but henry said that Willow is already gone. The world around became muted for him, as the elderly man placed him within the carriage Carrot was lost in his mind. They left Redenford that day, the caravan dropped Carrot off after realizing he wouldn't respond to anything. Carrot was lost, both mentally and physically. he wandered falling back to old habits before he got picked up as a child. he wandered within that town for years until he found himself resting underneath a tree. As the wind blew leaves fell from the tree, lacksidaislily blowing through the air. From this an old memory surfaced, it was one of the first things willow taught him. Willow showed him about the properties of his name sake's leaves. How to create tonics that could relieve pain and fevers, or create a paste to treat burns. It was the reason Willow loved the tree, he could help so many people with just the leaves of a singular tree. he told Carrot it was why he was happy when the town folks started calling him old Willow when he started treating them. This memory shook Carrot, it made him remember why Willow taught him medicine, why Willow probably sent him away when he died. Willow wanted him to live a better live, to help the people around him. But he would need money, supply, and reputation to do so. Decided to try to honor Willow's memory, to become an apothecary
