  1. The Life of Augustus Parsons Augustus Parsons was born to Fredrick and Liliana Parsons, both middle class Heartlanders, being able to make money from Fredrick's position as a tax collector for the Kingdom of Oren, in Oren. Young Augustus was given an education from his father; one which he learned only in the few hours in which his father was home and not sleeping. Augustus became very close with his mother and father, as he was their only surviving child, as the two children conceived before him were stillborn. Augustus helped around the house, and in his spare time he grew a love for poetry and writing, writing his earliest peice at age 7: "Two Birds in a Cage", a simple poem about two birds who both became friends while trapped in a cage. At the age of 12, Augustus had written a collection of short poems and stories, many of which he gave as gifts to his father. At the age of 14, Augustus regularly followed his father around the city, watching him work. Augustus made few friends in his youth, as his mother feared for his health greatly and kept him under her watchful eye; attending to any small injury he recieved. At the age of 16, Augustus's father took him on several trips to the wilderness, allowing him to see the world outside the city. Augustus hated the wilderness on these excursions, as it was not as comfortable as his easy life in the city. At the age of 18, Augustus attempted to enroll as a tax collector, yet his mother stopped him on all occasions for fear that the job was too dangerous for him. For almost two years, Augustus was unable to apply for the position as his mother punished him severly each time he tried to, his father being forced to reject his applications each time Augustus applied to be a tax collector. On one fateful night at the age of 20, Augustus's father did not arrive at home after his shift. Other tax collectors had said he was going to the forest to find a merchant who had failed to meet his taxes. After the sun had risen and his father had still not returned, Augustus left the city to try and find his father. In the early evening of his search, he found his father's body, mauled by boar tusks. Augustus was destroyed at this discovery, refusing food for a week after the discovery. He wrote a story in memory of his father, pouring his grief and sorrow into the pages. 7 months after the death of his Father, Augustus's mother contracted an infection, dying after a week and a half of painful bed-confined fevers. Augustus was nearly pushed to the brink of taking his own life with the death of both his parents in under a year. He wrote several poems filled with rage, hatred and sorrow. After months of this saddness, he attempted to bring himself back from the brink. He began to go out into the city and see the people. Once he was able to return to a semi-normal state of mental wellbeing, he began to sharpen his skills. Augustus paid a ship captain with the last of his savings to take him to Karosgrad in an attempt to get away from the crushing memories of his family in Oren. He soon began to get ready to apply for a job as a tax collector for the Kingdom of Haense, a tax collector just like his father.
