Andreas was born in a loving family, living for 3 years with his mom, Veronica Zahner, a Red Faith practitioner in the Holy Orenian Empire. Her job wasn't the most prestigious or enlightened, but over the years Andreas developed a love for the image of her mother stoicly working to sustain her only son after his father excused himself with the War of the Two Emperors, abandoning them. As Red Faith practitioner in the Empire, his mother died in a street as a branded and known anathema, and only his grandfather and grandmother were there to help him. Taking care of him for years, Andreas developed a cold and distant respect for the hardworking but heartless grandmother (Reneé Zahner) and a disdain for his lazy and content grandfather (Daniil Zahner). Of course, this was but his perspective, as his grandfather did just fine economically and his grandmother was suffering from losing his daughter; but Andreas only knows this academically, and he still holds a deep grudge against a grandfather he wishes not to see himself turn into. Hating the Empire deeply, he dedicates himself to the letters and philosophy, hoping to achieve great things in better lands. He still practices the Red Faith, and sees himself as a flame in a sea of darkness and ignorance.
