Cassian was quite literally born on the ship, born for the seas. Raised by his mother and father, a handmaiden and captain of the ship. When he was of age, Cassian came to take on the role of sailor, helping the crew his father captained with their daily tasks. But one day, a band of roaming pirates assailed them, took the whole crew prisoner, enslaving them. His father was ransomed, the kingdom buying him back, but his mother fell ill and died while prisoner. She died a humiliating death, chained and abused by the pirates. Cassian eventually built-up rapport with the bandits, becoming one of them, and eventually going against the pirate captain in a sailor's mutiny. He now roams the seas as a pirate, seeking his father who he deems a coward.
