  1. Anton wept as he heard the news. In his travels he had been far from his adopted home during their greatest time of need. How could he have been so foolish? The Mori were everywhere.

    “I must find the reminents, see who has fallen and who still lives!” Knowing Brandt, there would be many that still remain in this world. For that is the kind of leader his friend is. “I will find you. I will come to aid our recovery.”

  2. Spoiler

    This is a hilarious and clever post. I lol for real. XD

    Anton reads this missive with a question in his mind, “how hard can it be to build a piano.”  Ever the entrepreneur he starts drawing plans and gathering planks. He hopes this doesn’t end up as one of his many partially finished projects collecting dust in the attic.

  3. “What in the seven skies is happening?” Anton exclaimed as he read the special report edition of the paper. “It seems the war was ended too easily for some.”  Shaking his head in frustration he rereads it again to be sure he didn’t miss anything.

  4. What an amazing Idea! I love it. I had actually just started a Courier service (it's not quite functional yet but soon!) and this would work perfectly in tandem with my company. I would like to see one of them in each major city and the pricing is low and most of it goes to the couriers so players can find jobs and make some mina. Your Idea also increases RP as you said. Yes you could send a bird but what better way to flex than have a hand delivered letter that is sealed with wax delivered by a courier in uniform? I hope this gets some traction and becomes a part of the server.

  5. Well since I’m over 30 and I’m  near death with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel I feel like I can speak to this. XD

    First off, hurtful. Look at the amazing movies made and great books written by people over 18. Shows and web series as well.

    Creativity and imagination are not something that can be forced. It is something that needs to be nurtured. As a youth the worries of life are usually minimized by others such as caregivers and family. The future is full of possibilities and opportunities.

    Once the reality of adulting hits your world views narrow and the amorphous possibilities of the future begin to harden into the daily grind of life as you learn to provide for yourself.

    I understand that I am speaking in generalities and some are forced through circumstances to start this process early. But it is what it is and everyone goes through this.

    what I have found is my creativity and imagination goes through cycles much like everything else in life. Think of it like the tide. Sometimes you are at high tide and the ideas are flowing. Your creative juices are generating fantastic rp and everyone is having fun playing with you. Other times the tide is out and you feel like a potato sitting there slowly growing sprouts waiting for someone to toss you in the compost. Your rp is stagnant and you wander the server looking for inspiration and find nothing.

    With all that being said there are some things you can do to help optimize your time and experience during the high tide and minimize your time during the low tide. It’s all about life balance.

    you need food, water, sleep, safety, shelter, financial security, emotional support, exercise, etc. if you are deficient in one area that is not to bad but if you are running low in multiple areas your mind becomes stressed and has trouble functioning thus decreasing your ability to be creative.

    So what’s your point you ask? Life is a cycle of ups and downs. It gets crazy then calm. Take care of yourself and those you love and don’t stress about your creativity. Sometimes you need a break but if you keep coming back to it you will find your creative spark. It may be different from when you were younger but that is not bad. Change is part of life.

    Is your Missive too important to entrust to a bird? Sticking a sign in the dirt along a path just wont do for you? Have your city’s message boards filled up with clutter and you want your message to rise above the rabble? Then perhaps using a Courier to hand deliver your message or parcel is what you need.

    Almaris Courier Services is staffed with reliable and competent Couriers who will safely deliver whatever you need to whom ever you desire for a reasonable fee. What’s that? You do not know where they live? That is not a problem. Our prices are scaled based on how specific you are on the delivery location. If you know exactly where the home or location of the recipient is we have an inexpensive delivery fee. “But all I know is they are in Balian.” Again, we can help. Our prices are broken down into four categories based on geographical arias, from local to all of Almaris.

    Delivery address location levels and rates:

    L1: Exact location- Known City and Address of receiving party. {5 mina}

    L2: General Location- Known City of receiving party. {10 mina}

    L3: Vague Location- Known Nation of the receiving party. {15 mina}

    L4: Unknown Location- Receiving party must be found with no known location. {20 mina}

    Types of Deliveries for which Couriers would be ideal:

    Mail, Official notices, Wedding invitations, Court Summons, Parcels, equipment, Verbal messages (to avoid a paper trail), and more.

    Come to one of our offices and speak with the staff about how we can meet your delivery needs. At prescient we only have one office in Minitz but will be opening new ones across Almaris. If you encounter one of our Couriers abroad you may also employ them directly to transport your letter or parcel.

    How it works

    Bring in your mail/parcel to be delivered. Bring a note with the following information:

    Recipient’s name (ooc: character and ign if you have it), Sender’s name, Location level, Location information, short description of Item to be delivered (example: letter, Invitation, sword, potion, ect.).

    Example of delivery instructions:

    To Anton von Minitz (Danjah), from Sir Ritchy , L2, Neu Brandthof, Letter.

    You can hand the mail to our staff at one of our offices or you can speak with one of our Couriers directly wile they are out and about. Once delivered the Courier will get a signed receipt from the recipient and return it to the sender to verify the delivery.

    Employment opportunities:

    Spoiler

    As a newly formed company we are looking to fill our staff with hard working and resourceful people. If you would like to work as a Courier for ACS then come to Minitz and speak with Anton. Or you can send him a message via bird at (Anton / Danjahb29#2914). We will also be looking for industrious individuals who would like to start and run a branch of ACS in other cities. If that is you also contact Anton.

  7. Would she consider becoming a courier? My character will be starting a courier business shortly. Wanderers welcome. Lots of travel and RP. It gives you a starting point for new conversations (good for introverts). Decent pay. If interested message me.

    It's already Tuesday and I've not read all of the above posts. I think some crucial questions can be asked to re-shape the way money and the economy works. What do people want, and how realistic is it to get there?

    Do you want tangible or intangible currency? Intangible currency will always remain something external. It's a commodity like edit tokens or crowns: They serve a purpose, but they're not really part of the RP world.

    What purpose should the economy serve? If it's simply to macro-manage settlements, tiles, upgrades and the likes, then I think the intangible variant we have right now (aside from needing some work on draining coin) is just fine. Personally I doubt we'd want to limit the economy to a tool for Administration to manage the server, and I assume most people want a more interactive and RP-friendly system instead.

    So, a tangible currency could partially bridge the gap. You could still have a mixed version, where money can be put in meta-banks so staff can get to it (for the sake of nations and the likes) while withdrawn money for players becomes tangible. You can have meta-banks, which can't be robbed, tax the money (like it does right now, I think?) which gives incentive to store it manually but puts it at risk of being robbed through genuine theft RP.

    The point I'm trying to make is that the options are endless, and suggestions should be based on what the players want, while also keeping it manageable and realistic. So... What do you want?

    Do you want an easy way to grind coin, a way provided by staff (be it mining, mobs, voting)? Do you want people to simply go back to manual trade and bartering? Do you want to be able to buy stuff when the merchant is offline, or do you want to be able to get what you need whenever? Do you want die-hard RP or something in-between? Does your coin have to be safe, or should people be able to steal it? One currency, or multiple currencies? Do you want a full reform, or minor edits to the system?

    The answers will greatly vary, and each aspect will have to be developed and thought out before implementation. Above all else I think we need a coherent system with a clear purpose, which then 'answers' all of these questions.

    So, perhaps there should be a survey based on the most relevant questions?

    Well said. I agree that a more thorough survey would be helpful.

  9. Ok so what if we just used gold as currency? 9 nuggets = 1 ingot, 9 ingots = 1 block.

    cheep stuff can be sold for nuggets. You can carry a block and break it down when you need something or a stack of nuggets and combine them to buy something big.

    food decay wouldn't even help farmers b/c it's very easy to store food as blocks of hay (which obviously won't decay) and only craft the bread when you need it.

    better idea is to make farming productivity the same as vanilla and not let people farm the fields of nations they don't even live near with infinite durability /edit roleplay hoes b/c that is absolutely broken and has ruined all farm economy.

    I didn’t know that was a thing. I’ve been burning through iron harvesting all my crops.

    everyone who said yes never had to tolerate the food decay plug-in lmao

    True for me. I don’t have personal experience. Would there be a way to do a trial at the beginning of the next map? Say for a month or two and have a vote at the end to decide whether to keep it?

    I would have 2 conditions to add to this:

    1. Have food that is signed not expire

    2. Have food that is Signed not replenish Hunger.

    That way people can have their fancy RP food/hunt materials/trophies as they like but in terms of staying nourished they still need to have a steady supply of normal consumables on hand.

    I think this is an excellent suggestion!

    My suggestion comes as a re-haul of the system, which requires players to be deliberate in their storage and handling of Mina.  My opinion is that all the systems and mechanics on the server should blend as best as they can together so as to make the experience feel natural and have a flow between them and Mina as of present feel disconnected from the established systems of Roleplay and mechanics, for example people RP as morbillionair super nobles with mega McMansions but only have 5 Mina in their bank or a merchant has a morbillion Mina and only owns a house and three stalls in some cities.  Anyways my suggested changes are as follows:

    1. Mina should be fleshed out mechanically, as a physical item, which you carry in your inventory; perhaps have Mina in a bag/purse item you can have in your inventory that require more bags once you hit a stack limit.  Then alter movement speeds based on how many you carry (i.g. every 50 you move slower and slower).

    2. Remove nation/settlement treasuries and make it so the only real Mina bank in Cloud Temple but allow physical stashes of Mina in lairs, settlements, and nations which can be pillaged or heisted.  Have the tax in the CT bank tax scale starting at around a set amount (i.g. untaxed until 1000 Mina), but once you exceed that set amount the tax starts and begins to scales up per X amount of Mina.  This encourages new players and people who only want to store Mina for short term to store in a place they cannot get pillaged or stolen but incentivizes wealthy players and national treasuries to actually secure their money.  This also makes physical structures around securing large amounts of Mina matter and people can come up with In-Roleplay ways to secure their money.

    3. Movement of Mina and payments of any kind, be they between nations or between merchants, be physical movements that require planning.  If one party owes another 10,000 Mina then they'd need a train of pack donkeys/lamas and probably an escort to deliver that which opens it up to a variety of roleplay.

    The source of all Mina is voting, and that can be chopped up to all players do something to earn a meager amount of Mina, but the storage of Mina can be made into its own problem to be solved creatively and in-roleplay by the playerbase, be it Lairs/Settlements with the intent focus on being secure banks or nations spreading their riches in stockpiles all around their tiles to avoid pillaging or heists.  Keep it all physical and require player interaction in all exchange and you'll find Merchant RP would be made better and other types of RP made better too.

    Very creative. That robbing or heisting a large amount would be hard because you would be slowed down from having so much Mina. Not sure how auto shops would work.

    I would be interested to see how this plays out if implemented.
