Umbar had a very difficult childhood. His elf mother Feyana died after giving birth to him, his human dad
Galdur resented him for it, thus never gave him any credit for what Umbar tried to do right, to help his
dad or when he just tried to be to his liking. Altho Umbar's dad was a busy man, always locked away in
his tower, nobody exactly knew what he was doing there.
Growing up in human city he spent most of his time living with the red wizards, who tried to teach him of
the beauty and helpfulness of magic. Altho Umbar did like it, he always felt like that this is not the side of
magic that is calling for him. Every time he was left alone in the red wizard's main complex, he sneaked
into the library to read about the dark arts of magic. He didn't understand why he was so interested about
reading of demons and otherwordly beings, but he just felt drawn to it. Untill one rainy night, his father
woke him up by throwing a scholar's bag onto him, whispering with a worrying look on his face which
Umbar never had seen before:"This is your only chance to fix what bringing you to this world unfolded.
Out of your bed and follow me. And don't breathe a word to anyone." So he did what his dad asked him,
as his dad haven't asked him for anything. Ever. They rushed to the tower that Umbars dad had been
spending so much time at, just to find 5 red wizards infront of the entrance. "What you have been stirring
up in this high tower, will end now. It is unnatural and bringing out such souls should not be even
considered in the darkest of times. Umbar is not at fault here, he is just a boy. Drop your staff, and let
Umbar go." Galdur turned his head to his son, looked him deep into his eyes with a meaningful gaze and
said:"You MUST bring her back. You can. Follow your dark heart that brought death upon the very first
seconds you came to be on this earth!". This was the first and last time Umbar heard his father speak to
him with emotion that wasn't full of hatred and agony. For the first time he felt Galdur actually said
something meaningful to him, something from his heart. ?His father raised his staff, shouted a few words
that Umbar had no knowledge of, and wrapped himself into a shadowy being, a fiend that Umbar had no
fear of upon seeing. This was the last Umbar saw his dad. Red wizards took Umbar under their care,
knowing that Umbar would definately keep searching for his father by reaching for dark magic and
shadows. They kept Umbar under heavy surveillance, yet he still managed to slip books from the library
to his bedroom, to research plains of other worlds and of beings with black souls. Upon turning 20, which
is considered a grown-up amongst half-elves, he sneaked into the red wizards library one more time -
this time not to return with the books and knowledge he has stolen. Not understanding the full power and
knowledge of red wizards, he got caught at the gates of the city, given to opportunity to return the items
stolen from red wizards compound, or be taken from the items stolen and exiled by the red wizards. "I
have to. There's no turning back for me. You'd understand if you're in my position. I have to." He turned
his back to the red wizards and started to walk away, hearing one of them to start mumbling words to
cast a spell. Umbar readys the arcana focus he stole from the red wizards, preparing to summon insects
on the wizards mumbling a spell, when all of a sudden he hears a shout "No. Let him go. We owe it to
Feyana."
