You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) Example:
"Oh, I just, uh…" you stutter, tensing up. You eye the crone, then back outside the tent. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until… with a heavy breath.. "My name is Foy Forage, and I grew up in the tranquil village of Elarion, where nature and harmony blended seamlessly. My parents, Aelar and Lytha Forage, were respected scholars and healers, and I admired them deeply. Alongside my younger brother, Kael, I spent my childhood learning from them, exploring the enchanting forests, and living in harmony with the natural world. Our idyllic life was destroyed when a malevolent invader attacked our village, intent on stealing its resources. My parents fought bravely to protect us, but in the end, they sacrificed themselves to save our home. Their loss was devastating, and our village was left grieving. After the tragedy, Kael and I went to live with our aunt in Silver City, the grandest city in the world. Silver City was breathtaking, with its soaring towers of silver and crystal and its lush, beautiful gardens. Despite its beauty, I felt lost without my parents. I threw myself into my studies at the Academy, driven by a need to understand the forces that had taken my parents and to ensure such a tragedy would never happen again. Now, as a young adult, I have become a skilled scholar. My grief has transformed into a fierce determination to protect others from the darkness that once shattered my world. I've forged strong bonds with friends and mentors in Silver City and remain close to Kael. Guided by my aunt's wisdom and support, I dream of leading a group to rid the world of the evil that claimed my parents, so no other child has to suffer as we did. I like to protect my people and be as peaceful as possible. Violence is never the answer. But whatever I can do to help my people I'll do. I try to always be doing something."
