Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) Battun quickly glances around the room as he steps forward, checking above and around the cushion, before sitting down nervously. He clears his throat and responds, articulating his words carefully "I'm a hunter. Nothing special; Elk, Rams, Beasts." He lets a moment pass, as if hoping the hag would interrupt, before continuing. "I won't be here long. I'm a wanderer. Maybe I'll settle down eventually. Somewhere..." He takes in a breath, before wrinkling his nose and shaking his head, "...But not here." Battun rubs the back of his head and continues once more. "Not sure what you heard about me, or how you know me, but I'm not trouble. Just tell me a good place to stay the night, and I'll be on my way tomorrow." Backstory In his early life, in a remote village, in an abandoned territory, Battun's father was a hunter. His father taught him how to survive the wild, and trained him in his main skill-set. His mother was a native of Aevos, but exiled for reasons she never mentioned. She taught him how to write, read, grammar, and a bit of politicking. He was taught that the most important virtue, beyond all else, was consistency. A good hunter was consistent, able to deliver results each hunt. A good cook might be able to only make a mediocre meal, but he can always make a mediocre meal. This has grown him into a bit of a stubborn man, but honest, and thorough. When his parents died, he set out to Aevos to learn of the land his mother often talked about when he was younger. In part to learn of Aevos, and in part to learn of himself. ((I'm new, haven't decided on a good starting location or backstory location for my character. When you get in contact with me, can you give me some recommendations? As a beginner I'd like to have a character that won't leave much of an impact at the start, but might develop later on.))
