Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"I am of the Vinovian Company," said the man. "I come to this town in search of magic. You see, I am a budding mage and alchemist in constant search of knowledge."
"I see," said the hag. "And what is this - Vinovian Company?"
"It is of little matter at the moment," replied Avalon. "It is simply a mercenary group that I find myself a part of. Might you know where one may find books on magic and alchemy?"
"That is not why you are here," said the old woman. "You are here to find your destiny. You must forge your own path."
"And so I will," said Avalon confidently. "The road ahead is long. But I will find power and more knowledge, and with it, I will reform the world."
"You will have many friends - and many enemies."
"Indeed I will."
"Be cautious out there, young Avalon. Many do not know of the perils of Aevos. You come during a dangerous time."
"...how do you know my name?"
"Go, now. You have much to do."
"...Thank you for your guidance."
And with a swish of his cloak, Avalon was gone.
