Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"Expecting me?" Rayzen asks cautiously, knowing full well that he is far too early in his journey to have already made a name for himself. While his sense of curiosity forces him to draw nearer to the hag, he refrains from sitting down on the offered cushion just yet.
Backstory: Rayzen is looking for his place in the world. His father, a warrior who retired to become a blacksmith, was presumed dead in Rayzen's latter childhood. From then on Rayzen took over his father's smithery in order to take care of his mother, an alchemist who was afflicted with an unidentified illness in her final years that kept her bed-ridden. His mother would tell him stories of her travels throughout the realm, as well as portray her sadness that he was stuck taking care of her. She died on her death bed with a smile, knowing that her son would no longer be forced to be tied to one place. The loss of his mother spelled the loss of his sense of purpose for a time, until he remembered his mother's dying wish.
With a new found sense of self, Rayzen left his hometown to be molded by the world, and maybe even mold it himself.
