Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) **Lyric, taken aback by this stranger's words, needs a few seconds to respond to her statement. A fond smile quickly spreads once she gathers her thoughts. She's always loved telling stories to those who she didn't know. As for the fact that the lady seems to have recognized her ? Lyric doesn't pay it any mind, thinking of it only as a way to start the conversation. Quickly, she treads to the hag's table and sits in front of her, beaming. The few things she's packing for her journey are discarded at her feet.** "That is very kind of you, miss. Or is it madam ? I do not usually keep track of titles, goodie !" **Lyric begins under the watchful eye of her listener.** "Well, my story is as simple as can be. You see, I used to live in a village surrounded by my brothers and sisters, other halflings like myself. Oh ! what good times we had. What parties we threw !" **A fond chuckle interrupts her tale as Lyric seems to be reminded of pleasant memories of the place she describes.** "Those were the days, when little farmers such as yours truly could unwind from daily labor and taste some beautifully-crafted beer and dance 'til the sun rose the next day ! We're not usually travelers, us halflings, you see. Well... unlike my uncle. The bastard took off before I was even old enough to speak. He was a weird fellow, my uncle Frenn. When he came back from his adventures, all smiles and never going out of tales to tell to young kids and adults alike, that was when I was sold. My good uncle Frenn got the taste of elsewhere in me and lo and behold, I took off some years later, at almost the same age he was when he himself departed. Oh ! how proud of me he was. I'll never forget his smile when I asked for his help to pack my belongings. It wasn't easy, saying goodbye to my land, my brothers and sisters, my parents. Those are the folk who made me grow. I surely miss the parties, the ambiance, the music, the alcohol. Well. Not so much the last part. The world has a tons of tasty beverages to offer, I recognize. It has been a few months now and I wouldn't trade this experience for anything, really. I learned so much in such a small period of time. Who knows what I'll be able to do next when I gather more knowledge of the world we live in ? I've already noticed the people find my accent peculiar. To be honest, I find theirs to be interesting as well. I hope my journey will make me a great storyteller as well as old Frenn, that's for sure." **The old hag, who simply stayed quiet during Lyric's babbling, seems pretty satisfied of her story - well, if Lyric had decifered her mysterious expressions correctly.** "Your turn now, dearest and esteemed elder, what have your experienced eyes witnessed of this realm ? My curiosity for new tales to learn knows for now no bounds."
