  1. Sitting in the castle at Drusco, Edward Velain pondered the news. He had signed up hastily in a conflict he did not really know all too much about but was prepared to spill blood in defence of his new home. He looked around the great hall for anyone to discuss the news with, his mind buzzing with anticipation, excitement and a dash of fear, yet nobody was there. "For Drusco" He muttered to himself, enjoying a loaf of bread.

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) "You've been expecting me- What?" Edward musters out amid his surprise, "I can't say I'm not intrigued but... you cannot just tell a man you've been expecting him and not expect him to enquire further? What sort of scholarly, suave, sophisticated explorer would I be if I didn't!" With a dramatic flick of his hair, Edward takes a seat opposite the hag. "My story? Well, what can I say. I've had a nice life... perhaps too nice, in fact," Edward began, "I was raised in an opulent city far from here, the son of two merchants." "I enjoyed life in the city," Edward continued wistfully, "...but there's only so much a young man like myself can take. I had to get out and see the world." "Not just see it... but capture it, in words... as art. I'm somewhat of a poet, don't you know." Edward winked at the hag. "And here I am... in the wilderness, where it smells like death and decay but, my dear hag, do you know what? I've never felt more alive!"
