Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) Wonder flinched. They hadn't expected anyone to talk to them. They fidgeted with the strap of their bag, considering turning around to find another place to rest. But their legs ached and they didn't want to seem rude... They hesitated before shuffling over to lower themselves onto the cushion across from the hag. Their fingers picked at the edge of their tunic as they kept their gaze down. "Uh. My story?.." Their voice wavered at first, but steadied. Wonder swallowed and finally met the hag's eyes. "I used to live in the woods. In a village but they didn’t keep me long." Wonder cringed, remembering how he'd practically been tossed out with nothing more than the clothes on his back. "It was the last straw... I never mean to cause trouble, but it always finds me somehow! I looked away from the stove too long while watching an elder's stew and a spark leapt to the cabin wall... They told me I should leave before I ruined anything else." Wonder glanced nervously around at the floating candles, curious but too stiff to ask. "So, I’ve been walking, I thought maybe I’d find a place where I couldn't cause anyone anymore trouble... Or at least some friends who wouldn't mind if I did." Their mouth twitched into a small, wistful smile. "And if I could learn to tame creatures, my dream, that’d be better company than being alone." Their hands folded together in their lap, shoulders hunched in a self-concious curl. "D-does that answer your question, ma'am..?"
