Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) Fern walks further into the tent, nervous, anxious as she didn't know where she was.. As the candles' scent creeps up the elf's nose, she was calmed by the smell. "My story? Oh dear.." The elf says, her ears lowering themselves towards her shoulders. She sits down at the cushion.. Fern was seemingly a bit saddened by this question. "I think.. My story starts in a place similar to this place.. But very far away from here. I ran away, you see." She forced a smile, "But it was for the best of my well being." Her troubled gaze towards the fire of the candles, she continues. "I was asked this on my way here, I did not answer them.. So excuse me if I seem a bit distracted.. A lot is on my mind." The Elf focuses back to the Old Lady, "I was kept hostage, from the world I do not know. My parents were not the friendliest of people. They have kept me from doing so much, and they made me waste time of this thing called.. Life." She explained. "I wish I could go back sometimes, but I think that is a horrible idea. It only happens when I'm afraid. I need to overcome that fear-" She hangs her head, shuffles her legs slightly, keeping them close together. Fern's shoulders were tense, just thinking about what she has gone through. The Old Lady nodded, tilting her head at the Elf. "I see. What else, my child?" Fern raises her head, surprised to see that someone was interested. "Oh. Well, I kept sneaking out of my home, to meet people. I met a High Elf named Evelynn.. A Goblin named Hugo.. And I have a Companion, named Magnolia. She's my precious treasure that I saved about a year ago, and she was the one that helped me through my adventure. She is lost currently, but I hope I find her throughout my journey." Fern says with yet another smile. A pause. "I also have a love for plants, botany.. Flowers, cooking.. I find it very enjoyable." She tilts her head towards the roof of the tent, smiling naturally now. Fern finally speaks, a thought brewing. "I think my story begins here. Not when I was born, but when I escaped. It has been a tiring travel throughout these lands. I hope that this is a new beginning for me, and maybe Magnolia too. This is a new start for me." The Old Lady nodded again, hoisting herself up with her wooden cane. Fern rushes over to help the lady up to her feet, holding her by her back to support. "Thank you for listening. I think I have an idea of what I wish to do with my Life now." Fern says with a uplifted, joyful tone. She goes over to the front of the tent, and looks out of it. The sunrise was peaking over the swampy trees, Fern only smiled at the view. She gave a small, shy wave to the old lady, and went on her way out of the tent, to start her journey..
