Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Lewis froze for a second, blinking in confusion.
“You know me?” he asked quietly, then shook his head and took the seat.
“I’m not sure I even know myself. I woke up a few days ago with nothing but a name that doesn’t feel like mine and a companion who swears he does.”
He paused, staring into the candlelight.
“Now we just wander, hoping the road takes us somewhere that makes sense. Sometimes I see flashes in my dreams faces, laughter, a place by the sea... but they fade the moment I wake up.”
Finally, he looked back at the hag, his voice calm but uncertain.
“If you really were expecting me, maybe you can tell me why. Because somewhere between forgetting and remembering... I think I lost something that mattered.”
