Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Felix blinked in confusion for a moment at the sudden voice of the hag. "me?" though he was the only one here. he slowly lowered himself onto the cushion. his hands twisted in his lap as he took a small breath. the air felt heavy, though that could've just been the humidity.
"I'm nothing special... you say you've been expecting me?" after a moment of thought, Felix decided it would be okay to share a bit with this strange woman. "i can't see why you would. I'm not much to be looked at. actually, I'm quite far from home, not many people around here know me at all. I'm looking for a place to settle. but, ha... i suppose i've been overtaken by quite a bit of wanderlust. there's been a few spots along my journey that seem more than apt for a fresh start. I've always wanted to run a tavern, see? but there's not a lot of cheap real estate where I'm from. nor am i very good at balancing finances..."
Felix sighed, looking dispirited for a moment. "i suppose I'm avoiding responsibility out here. there's nothing to hold me down. my family says i have a place back home, but, ah... they're not well off either. being born into poverty will do that to a family. honestly it might be a bit selfish of me, y'know? i haven't spoken to them in ages."
The heartlander swallowed silently. time to move on a bit. "I've been wandering out this way for a while. it doesnt seem like the landscape out here is very fit for travelers, especially not ones on foot. very wet... do you live here?"
