    Ender sat in a dark corner of a trader’s cart bound for a far-off land. When the cart rolled into a village, the owner knocked on the wooden frame. “We’ve arrived at the destination you paid for,” the merchant said, closing the curtains. Soon after, Ender stepped out, handing over the remainder of the coins he had promised, a sack of preserved food slung over his back and gripped in one hand. “Take care and good luck,” the merchant added as Ender nodded and walked into the village.
