Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) I hesitate for a moment, the damp air clinging to my clothes, then lower myself onto the cushion. The candles flicker, casting long shadows across her face. “I did not come here by choice,” I say, bowing my head slightly. “Word reached me of folk disappearing in these marshes, of shadows moving where none should tread. Every road, every path seemed to lead me to this town… and now, to you.” I pause, studying her eyes. “If you were expecting me, then I fear what comes next. I am but a traveler, yet I carry burdens that may yet darken this place.”
