Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Example:
**Ben takes the offered seat and warmly shakes the hag's hand. He then gestures to his neck with an emphasized look on his face and wide eyes.
If the hag were to be confused,
**After hearing the Hag's confusion, Ben frantically mimics writing on a piece of paper.
Just as a note, Ben is mute in this case.
As a backstory, Ben is a farm boy who grew up on his father's wheat farm. He grew strong over the years, helping his father bring in the straw for storage in the barn and hauling grain with the mules. Unfortunately, like many other farm children, his family lost the farm due to instability in the region and poor harvests. After the sale and move, the family barely had enough to rent a lot in Vallagne. Now, with his family struggling to adjust to the new living circumstances, he does odd jobs across town to help make ends meet. Will he remain in Vallagne forever? Will his family fully recover? Will his speech impediment be his downfall? We don't know yet!
