Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) Example: (delete this) "Oh, I just, uh…" you stutter, tensing up. You eye the crone, then back outside the tent. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until… Her words sent a slight chill down his spine, she was expecting him? Not knowing what to do he slowly took a seat on the cushion, silently relieved to be off his feet even if its only for a short while. "I'm here looking for someone, my sister. I thought she had died many years ago as we stopped receiving letters from her, but now I have nobody else..." His right hand gently clutched onto a small bag on his hip, clutching the last letter he received from his elder sister. "I cant die peacefully without at least knowing if she truly passed or not." As he sat, his eyes glanced outside the tent, worried that he was still being followed. After a while he looked back at the hag, a slight smile on his face to hide his sorrow. "If she's alive then i.." he stutters, his grip on the bag tightening a bit more "then ill have to tell her everything. Ill have to tell her everything that happened at home while she was away, how theirs... nobody left..." The feeling of sorrow builds up deep inside and all he wanted was to cry, but their was no time. "I hope she remembers me after all these years apart, but first I need to find her and then maybe" he paused as he slowly stood up from the cushion, a slight groan escaping his lips as his body still ached from his journey "maybe life wont be meaningless to me... maybe ill finally have something to live for again." For a brief moment he stood still, taking in the felling of being somewhere warm, somewhere that smells rotten, but warm none the less. "Thank you ma'am, its been so long since I've spoken to anyone that I almost forgot what my own voice sounded like." With one final wave he pulled up his hood, ducked under the tent once more and continued his journey.
