As a Mountain Dwarf, he grew up among kin who valued the high air, snow-crowned ridges, and the great gates that linked hold to hold across the peaks. Though raised in the traditions of clan honor and the teachings of the Brathmordakin, Torin found himself most fascinated by the roads that ran beyond Kal’Varoth’s walls rather than the treasures within them. In his young adult years, he served as a mason and surveyor along the mountain passes of Urguan, helping maintain bridges, cliff paths, and waystones used by traders and kin alike. During these travels, he saw how old grudges and distrust often left roads unsafe and travelers without welcome, even among the descendants. Remembering Urguan’s ancient ideal of dwarven unity, he came to believe that the strength of a hold lay not only in its walls, but in the safety, it offered those who approached them. His northern journeys eventually led him beyond familiar routes to a hidden mountain bowl where snow lined the cliffs, amber birches clung to the lower slopes, and a river wound through the valley below. Taking this place as a sign from the stone and the order of the world Yemekar had set in motion, he resolved to carve a neutral sanctuary there. He named this vision Amberfall and sought allies, pilgrims, and artisans to raise its first stones as a hall of peace beneath crystal light.
