Bonaventure Merrymas is a highland born son of Petra. His father (Calpernius) was a soldier in the local garrison. His mother (Seraphina) was a local herbalist and healer. Both were devout believers in the church of the canon and lived in the Birch Weald of Seviel. In this region, Bonaventure was born. He grew up wandering the woodlands and distant highlands of his home region and was brought up earnestly in the faith. Both his adventuring and faith inspired in him a love of writing and a idealistic nature. His parents both taught him parts of their trade, mostly to aid him in his wanderings. basic skills with the sword to fend off rogues and bandits, and basic medicine and herbology to heal scrapes and minor wounds. In his young adulthood he entered a school for clerics to be trained to join the church's ranks of priests, but after a few years of study, he discerned that such a life wasn't for him. He wanted a new life of common simplicity and so he left the school and set off on the road to find whatever life may lay ahead of him.
