Nikau of Skjoldier has a father and a mother, mother being Lexie of Skjoldier and father being Robert of Skjoldier. Both parents soldiers, raised by soldiers themselves. The family trade. Then there's Nikau. Only child. Niko was raised from birth to be a soldier for Skjoldier. In early life he embraced it as it was all he knew. He spent his young adult life training for militia, doing training drills, town guard duty, studying old combat scrolls. But one fateful day, Nikau found himself in combat with a rogue orc raid party. He did his best, but overwhelmed, he was forced to retreat. But the orcs hunted down each one of the retreaters, including Nikau. Their raid party leader left only Nikau alive, tearing out his eye and carving his groups symbol into Nikaus back. Nikau headed home, bleeding and on the verge of death. He didn't make it far before passing out. He then awoke, luckily having been picked up by some stray travellers. Back in Skjoldier, Nikau was shunned and thrown out of the militia due to his new missing eye and his failure in battle. So then Nikau set out alone, to find a new home, on a ferry to the Empire of Man.
