Smudge was but a worker in the Kingdom of Norland, whatever job he had is no longer relevant as he became an alcoholic over time, and has lost the life he once had. He mostly spends his time wandering the streets, attempting to get pennies for any alcohol he can get his grubby fingers on. He's often ignored by the people walking past his because who would want to talk to a guy like that...
