Jean was born in Margraviate of Avistra and both of his parents killed at a young age.
Because he was left all alone he had to learn alternative ways to survive, he would pickpocket people and sleep in abandoned houses. He developed a shy personality never speaking to anyone, he ends up meeting Kestrel Altwegg who he tries to steal from aswell, instead of punishing him kestrel offered him work. Jean didn't trust anyone and would have his guard up for years, but because of what he went through he was perfect for scouting and ambushes. He learned knife fighting before any proper fighting skills because its easier to carry in the streets. Jean dislikes killing people unless necessary or forced to, he becomes known within the militia for always staying calm during battle. Even after being more intergrated Jean speaks very little and avoids people in the Avistran millitia. Kestrel is like family to jean but Jean is still very afraid of returning to poverty which makes him extremely loyal to the militia.
